Junk Science Tour Plans

PR reports: Brooklyn-based hip-hop duo Junk Science's second album, Gran'dad's Nerve Tonic, hits stores today! Following the release of their critically acclaimed debut album, Feeding Einstein, the guys have taken it up a notch on the new album with the help of fellow Nuclear Family collective members Cool Calm Pete, Iller Than Theirs, and Loer Velocity as well as a bonus remix by Daedelus.

The album is pure Junk Science; a clever patchwork of tightly conceptual tracks woven together by the theme of the Tonic itself and the duo's signature, intentionally dusty, lo-fi sound. The duo teamed up with Brooklyn brewery Sixpoint Craft Ales to create a limited-release "GNT" brew to coincide with the release of the album. The beer is available in a limited bottling and on tap in bars and restaurants around NYC.

To promote the new album, Junk Science is hitting the road with Iller Than Theirs until November 15th. For the majority of the tour, the guys will be joining headlining hip-hop legend Del The Funky Homosapien on his 11th Hour Tour. These shows will also feature Del's fellow Hieroglyphics' founder A-Plus, hip-hop veteran Devin the Dude witz the Coughee Brothers, Bukue One, and The Serendipity Project.- dates

Ur So Gay

PR reports: Capitol Music Group will release a digital EP from pop-rock songstress Katy Perry - entitled Ur So Gay - through iTunes and other online retailers on November 20th, 2007. The Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter has been wowing crowds with her catchy songs and larger-than-life charisma at recent shows with Yellowcard, Mika, and the Starting Line, while everyone from Blender Magazine to Perez Hilton has been singing her praises. Recently, Hilton wrote of Perry on his website: "If Avril Lavigne were actually talented, pretty, and had an appealing personality, she'd be Katy Perry. She's got the whole package!" (because Paris is such an astute judge of music, notice how she focued on image here)

The Ur So Gay EP includes the title track, a hilarious kiss-off to an ex-boyfriend; a club remix of the song by DJ/producer Junior Sanchez (Madonna, Shakira); "Use Your Love" (new version of The Outfield's hit single "Your Love"); and "Lost," an honest, searching ballad that shows a more vulnerable side of this talented, multi-dimensional artist who, though she's only 22, has been writing songs, playing guitar, and performing for several years.- more on this story

Road That Never Ends for Mountain Heart

Led Zeppelin Digital Box and Contest

PR reports: Apple today announced that a special digital boxed set containing Led Zeppelin's entire discography, "The Complete Led Zeppelin," is now available for pre-order exclusively on the iTunes Store. "The Complete Led Zeppelin" is a 165-track collection of all 13 of the legendary group's albums, including the new career-spanning "Mothership" retrospective, for only $99.

Led Zeppelin's "Mothership," a 24-track collection of the group's best-known songs, hand-picked by Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones, is also available today for pre-order. Touching on every studio album, the collection contains defining songs including "Whole Lotta Love," "Rock and Roll" and "Kashmir." In addition to "The Complete Led Zeppelin" and "Mothership," Led Zeppelin's entire catalog of songs and albums will also be available for individual purchase and download beginning November 13.

Fans who pre-order "The Complete Led Zeppelin" or "Mothership" will be automatically entered to win the chance to see the band's reunion performance at London's O2 Arena on November 26 as part of the Ahmet Ertegun Tribute. Can Anthology

Sky Maps

PR reports: Maps announce details of a new single, "To The Sky," released digitally through Mute on October 16, 2007. The single, a blissful post summer favorite, also features 2 remixes from The Loving Hand (Tim Goldsworthy from LCD Soundsystem), up-and-coming remixer Fantastic Mr. Fox, and the B-side "In Chemistry." 

Maps, aka James Chapman, was recently shortlisted for the prestigious Nationwide Mercury Prize for his debut album, "We Can Create," released on Mute in June 2007. Maps recently toured the US � highlights include sold-out headline appearances at NYC's Mercury Lounge and KEXP's "John In The Morning At Night" benefit show in Seattle, as well as in studio performances on KEXP's John In The Morning and KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic. Maps is currently on tour in the UK. 

Maps' debut album was rightly acclaimed upon its release in the spring as a work of heart stopping extremes. A hugely ambitious, widescreen and epic record that recalls everything from the far away electronics of Basic Channel and Carl Craig, through the skewed songwriting of Postal Service, Flaming Lips and Grandaddy to the euphoric soundscapes of Sigur Ros and My Bloody Valentine.

ChthoniC Extend Tour Plans

PR reports: Having recently completed a 60-show North American tour that saw them become the first-ever Asian extreme metal band to play Ozzfest, the Taiwanese six-piece ChthoniC has confirmed a third leg of its fall European tour. 

In between tours of England with Canada's 3 Inches of Blood and Western Europe with Finland's Ensiferum, the group will join black metal legends Marduk for a week-long tour of Finland and the Baltic States. 

"When we started ChthoniC," says vocalist Freddy Lim, "we practiced by playing songs by Cradle of Filth and Marduk, so it's pretty unbelievable that we just finished playing a few shows with Cradle in the U.S. and will soon get to support Marduk!" - dates

All that Remains is to Play Games

PR reports: Massachusetts' ALL THAT REMAINS have launched the official 'All That Remains Van Driver' video game on the band's website. The game allows players to compete for an autographed copy of Guitar Hero 2 and autographed copies of the band's forthcoming live DVD, 'All That Remains Live.' 

By avoiding obstacles and scooping up guitar picks and energy drinks, players can compete worldwide for the grand prize of the Guitar Hero 2 package, with the top 10 winners receiving autographed copies of the ALL THAT REMAINS DVD.

Having just return from Japan for an appearance at Loudpark 2007, ALL THAT REMAINS is continuing to support the band's 2006 effort, 'The Fall of Ideals,' and will soon return to the road as direct support to As I Lay Dying on the An Ocean Between Us tour, also featuring Haste The Day and Prosthetic Records labelmates Through The Eyes of the Dead. Beanie Sigel's Solution

PR reports: Beanie Sigel is set to make his much-anticipated return with The Solution (State Property/Roc-A-Fella). Hitting stores December 11, the "Broad Street Bully" unleashes his highly anticipated fourth album to unveil 17 tracks of pure fire. 

The Solution's first single, "All of the Above," is fast becoming the monster radio smash that has eluded Beans for most of his career. It's a melodically grizzly epic, featuring the timeless King of R&B, R. Kelly. Produced by The Runners, "All of the Above" will be officially impacting radio October 29, the video directed by Jessy Terrero (50 Cent's Candy Shop, Soul Plane) will hit video channels later this month.
