Red
Hot Van Hagar |
blabbermouth.net reports: Sammy Hagar won't
be on the road much this year, besides a few gigs with his group the WABORITAS
and his induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of VAN
HALEN. But that's not to say that he doesn't have plans to make new music.
Hagar has been performing recently at his Cabo Wabo Cantina in Mexico with
former VAN HALEN bassist Michael Anthony and RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS drummer
Chad Smith, and he told Launch the three of them might hit the studio together.
"We're thinking about, when the CHILI PEPPERS tour is over, about doing
a little record," he said. "Not a permanent thing, but we've been calling
ourselves CHICKEN FOOT down here, you know?[see full story for more]-

NIN
Vs Emo |
FMQB reports: While [Nine Inch Nail's] Reznor
seems happy with his own music, he's still an angry man when it comes to
other acts out there. Talking to Rolling Stone, he ranted "Emo screamo!
(which the magazine describes as "oddly Dr. Seussian") If I happen to accidentally
turn the radio on I literally can't tell the difference between one of
20 bands. Either I'm getting old, which is a fact, or I'm turning into
my dad! I wonder about the person that's in a band, the young kid who just
got signed or is trying to get signed - why is he doing it? Is he trying
to change the world and do something different and express himself or
is it because they want to f*** Paris Hilton and be photographed outside
trendy restaurants?" [see full story for some really good info on the forthcoming
NIN CD which undoubtedly won't sound like the 20 odd emo bands out there.]
Reznor isn't alone, The Used also blasted Emo in a recent MTV interview.
"We wanted to say [no] to the genre of music that's eating us all alive
right now - emotional screamo." So says The Used frontman Bert McCracken
talking to Mtv News about his band's next album, which is supposed to be
out in March. "We want to establish ourselves as something brighter than
just this dimly lit singled-out genre that's going to fade away in a couple
years. We're just rock kids."- Click

Slash
/ Dio / Bozzio RockWalk |
pr-inside reports: Rockers SLASH, RONNIE JAMES
DIO and FRANK ZAPPA's drummer TERRY BOZZIO are to be enshrined in Hollywood's
RockWalk.
The trio will be honoured on Sunset Boulevard
next week (17JAN07), where their handprints and signatures will line up
alongside music legends like ERIC CLAPTON, CARLOS SANTANA and JOHNNY CASH.
[and rightly so. They've earned the honor unlike "stars" that had Walk
of Fame stars purchased for them (e.g. Ryan Seacrest). Actually, a petition
should be started to make Ryan's star a public urinal just a thought.

ways to get his name in the press, The Game has taken to challenging wrestler

Families
Blast Great White over Charity Gig |
BW&BK reports: Post Chronicle has issued
the following report: The families of the 100 people killed in a blaze
at a GREAT WHITE gig in 2003 have blasted the American rock group after
they announced they are playing a charity gig - for seals.
The fire, at a club in Rhode Island, was
caused by an ill-advised pyrotechnics show, and claimed the life of the
band's guitarist Ty Longley.
The Once Bitten Twice Shy stars have been
called "deeply insensitive" by survivors and relatives still mourning the
loss of their friends and family because a fund set up to help those affected
by the tragedy is out of money.[see full story for more]-

RIAA
Buy Off Senators? |
FMQB reports: A bill has been introduced to
Congress which would set new rules for satellite radio, creating new rates
and content protection standards similar to those of Internet radio. The
legislation was sponsored by Sens. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), Lindsey Graham
(R-SC), Joseph Biden (D-DE) and Lamar Alexander (R-TN).
The bill is part of the ongoing debate
over the ability of satellite radio subscribers to record high-quality,
digital copies of songs directly from broadcasts. The RIAA[.... we'll leave
it at that, see the full story for all the gory details including the RIAA
praise of Senator Frankenstein's hard work and talks about creating a "fair"
marketplace. Would fair include non-RIAA member labels?]-
