Jesu
Tour ICEd |
Lambgoat reports: Jesu will be forced to miss
the beginning of their tour with Isis, which kicks off this week in California.
The group has issued the following statement:
"We are sorry to report that Jesu are still
stuck in England and will NOT be playing the Spaceland, L.A headline/release
party; work permits for Jesu have still not been cleared by U.S officials/customs[ICE]
and the band are not allowed into the U.S until the permits are officially
cleared. The band are yet to receive a date of clearance and simply have
to wait until they do so before entering the U.S, hence Jesu will not be
appearing at any shows with Isis until the permits are available and Jesu
can leave England.[see full story for more]- Click

The
Shake Are Coming |
PR reports: May 15 is the red-letter day when
New York City's latest rock-throne contenders THE SHAKE will release Kick
It, their debut album on Unicycle Records. If advance reaction is any indication,
this band is sure to garner lots of positive media attention. All not yet
21, four area college students have managed to hone their musical craft
and amass a loyal fan base while still pursuing their studies at Columbia,
NYU, and Queens College.
THE SHAKE counts several of the original
"British invasion" bands among their influences. Parallels to the Yardbirds,
the Small Faces and the early Rolling Stones are apparent in many of their
songs. But what give THE SHAKE their versatility are the individual band
members' varied influences. Merkin cites BritRock acts like Oasis and the
Kinks while Shapiro prefers the classic rock styling of Pink Floyd and
Led Zeppelin, and guitar greats Muddy Waters and Elmore James. Stein revels
in old-school punk like the Ramones and early Green Day, while McNellis
is a Jazz connoisseur. When you add all this together and mix it with their
youthful enthusiasm, the result is the unique sound that is THE SHAKE.[see

Scum
of the Earth Beneath the Devil Girl |
PR reports: Scum of the Earth (featuring former
Rob Zombie guitarist RIGGS & White Zombie drummer Ivan DePrume) have
announced the completion of a new music video for their song "Beneath The
Living" which is featured in the upcoming psychological cult thriller film
entitled "Devil Girl". The video was directed by the movie's director,
Howie Askins of Monkey Man Films. The music video can be viewed online
at the full story link. When asked about the decision to use Scum of the
Earth's music for the movie, director Howie Askins replied, "Having been
a longtime fan of Riggs and Scum of the Earth, I thought that the band's
music was a perfect fit for the subject matter of the film. The band even
sings about a "Devil Girl" in their song Get Your Dead On, and the pairing
of the two just made perfect sense. We were also able to secure 3 other
tracks from the band for the film so there's plenty of SOTE in the movie."-

Cataract
Find Their Man |
PR reports: Cataract posted the following
update: Yes it's true; we are back to a five piece! And we're glad we can
stop the guessing and rumoring by officially welcoming Tom Kuzmic whom
you might know from death metal monsters Disparaged to the mighty realm
of Castle Cataract! We also thank all the people who wanted to ruin their
lives by joining us on our trip to hell or volunteered to jump in case
we couldn't find someone - you guys f***ing rock! We are confident this
is the best that could have happened as Tom has more than 100% of what
we were looking for! We already started rehearsing with the new line up
and things are looking great for the shows we wisely didn't cancel haha!
So once again to end all discussion - we will play shows, starting March
31st! We will keep you posted on the progression.- Click

Criminal
Wanted |
PR reports: Anglo-Chilean thrashers Criminal
are looking for a new bass player. Frontman Anton Reisenegger recently
posted the following message on the band's MySpace page:
"It's unfortunately looking like Staff
won't be able to continue in Criminal. We're quite bummed out because he's
really grown to be a part of the band, and the last few shows we've played
with him have probably been the best since Rod and I moved to Europe ,
but his work and other commitments don't allow him to dedicate enough time
to touring and recording. He will still be doing the BRUJERIA show and
might be helping out here and there after that, which we appreciate enormously
(cheers mate!), but what it boils down to is we are again without a bassist.
Which also means we are looking for one! So if you fulfil the following
requirements, drop us a line! A South American background would be very
welcome, but is not a must!"[see full story for more]-

Forward Russia would have fit
in nicely in the New Wave era for a couple of reasons. First of all, they
have well-written, tightly performed songs, good stuff. Secondly, singer
Tom Woodhead has a manic way of singing that makes him sound, well, slightly
insane (4 stars)
