Ozzfest
Rumors |
SMN reports: As next Tuesday draws closer
when media mogul Sharon Osbourne will sit down with husband and metal Godfather
Ozzy Osbourne to announce the 2007 installment of heavy music's longest
running festival, OZZFEST, people are wondering what will be revealed.
Rumors are abound that the show will transform into an indoor arena-esque
format, with considerably less bands on the bill. Reaching back to 2001's
multi-leg format, the bill could feature a revolving door of artists who
will pick up at different points along the shortened trek. With rumored
headliners ALICE IN CHAINS seemingly squared away, other names that have
had attention focused on them [are at the full story link. if they pan

C-Murder
'Borrows' Judas Priest Title For New CD |
PR reports: Buoyed by red-hot single "Posted
On Tha Block," platinum rapper C-Murder returns with Screamin' 4 Vengeance,
a searing collection of hardcore [rap] music that features the rapper delivering
his signature brand of bone-crushing rap and bluntly addressing the circumstances
surrounding his incarceration for a 2002 murder he says he did not commit.
In Stores March 20. "A lot of people want to know what's going on with
me and what my personal feelings are as far as what I've been through the
last five years," C-Murder says from his Louisiana home. He was sentenced
to life in prison, but was released when his conviction was overturned.
"I expressed it on Posted On Tha Block,'" C-Murder continues. "The public's
getting a basic picture of what I've been through, how I feel and what's
going on in my mind from that song."
Estevan Oriol (D12, Cypress Hill) directed
the innovative video for "Posted On Tha Block." The veteran lensman, who
shot the clip in New Orleans and shows the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina,
used the Dream Sequence program to give the clip a storybook-like feel.[see

Buckcherry
Sued Over Name? |
antiMusic reports: We got an anonymous call
on Friday telling us that Buckcherry is being sued over their name. The
caller, who identified himself only as Mike, said that he sent over a copy
of the lawsuit via email but it must have been eaten by our spam filter
because we can't find it. At this point we have no idea if this is legit
or not and have no details but we're looking into it. If it's legit we'll
give you more info, if it's not put in your hoax bank next to Courtney
Love judging on American Idol.
[Update: This was news to the band's publicist
who doubts the validity since the band has had the name for 10+ years.
We're hoping to hear confirmation from the band's management either way
soon but as for now the hoax box is filling up!]
If true this isn't the first lawsuit filed
against Buckcherry since their recent resurgence. Last September they were
sued by an under age girl that appeared in one of their videos. See the
full story for the press release their PR people out at that time about
that suit. - Click

Incubus Finalists |
PR reports: Multi-platinum Epic recording
artists INCUBUS whose new album LIGHT GRENADES debuted on Billboard's Top
200 at No. 1 are now turning to their fans to keep the momentum going.
The quintet recently offered Incubus diehards the opportunity to create
the video for their second single, "Dig." The response was nothing short
of extraordinary with over 100 phenomenal entries submitted.
From December 5th to January 15th, fans
were able to enter the "I Dig Incubus Contest" by logging onto www.idigincubus.com.
There they could download previously shot footage of the band and other
digital assets, which they were able to play with and edit as they saw
fit. After reviewing all entries, the band selected five top finalists.
The winning video - which is scheduled to be announced by Incubus on February
13 during a live webcast at the band's Wiltern show in LA- will become
the official video for "Dig," and will be serviced to video and online
outlets worldwide.
The promotion spotlights the popularity
of user-generated content and the band's eagerness to find new ways to
interact and connect with fans. "We're extremely excited to have our fans
be involved with this part of the creative process," said lead singer Brandon
Boyd and guitarist Mike Einziger. "There have been some amazing submissions
and we can't wait to see who gets chosen as the winner." [see full story
