Van Halen: Snubs, Sellouts, New Dates and Anthony Shows Class
antiMusic reports: We had quite a few Van Halen stories this week including new dates, sellouts, and the man left out of the reunion Michael Anthony, so instead of recaping each one separately we'll combine highlights for all of them but we'll kick off with an update the Van Halen camp sent over today.

Here is the update: Uniondale, NY has been changed to Thursday, November 8. On Sale date is still To Be Announced. Tickets for the Detroit, MI show at Joe Louis Arena on October 20 go on sale this Saturday, 8/25 at 10:00 AM. Also on Saturday Cleveland and Boston fans get their shot at tickets. The Cleveland show will take place on Rocktober 10th at the Quicken Loans Arena and the Boston show will happen on Rocktober 30th at the TD Banknorth Garden.

Earlier this week we reported on some apparent snubbing of Michael Anthony. First his image was replaced on album art on Van Halen's official site but was quickly reinstated. Then a reader brought to our attention that Anthony's songwriting credits were removed on the song "Panama" so we dug a little deeper and discovered that his credits were removed from the entire '1984' album according to the ASCAP database. However, his credits appear to remain on the rest of the band's catalog. That story is here

Anthony himself spoke out this week for the first time since the reunion tour was announced and he showed some real class by taking the high road, explaining that he wasn't invited to take part in the reunion also encouraged fans to give his replacement, Eddie Van Halen's son Wolfgang, whom he called a "good kid," a chance. You can read that story with Anthony's complete comments- here.

Rolling Stones Retiring?
antiMusic reports: Will the members of the Rolling Stones soon start gathering moss? Maybe if a report citing an always reliable unnamed source is to be believed. In fact, this source says that Sunday's concert in London will be their swan song.

That's right, Mick and Keef are reportedly hanging it up following their concert at London's O2 Arena this coming Sunday (8/26/07), the final stop on their "Bigger Bang Tour."

Strangely, the Stones camp haven't announce this supposed retirement so maybe they like the irony of going out with a whisper instead of a bang, contradicting the tour name.- more on this story

Lily Allen Postpones US Tour
PR reports: U.K. artist Lily Allen is regrettably postponing her upcoming series of West Coast dates. U.S. authorities revoked her work visa earlier this month when she was entering the country. She has also been forced to pull out of an appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards.

"I am so disappointed that I won't be able to come to the States at this time," says Lily. "I was really looking forward to playing these shows and being part of the Video Music Awards. I want my fans to know that I'll be back as soon as I possibly can!"- myspace link

Grant County deputies responded to an injury call at a campground near the Warped event site and when they arrived they encountered several fights as well as burning portable toilets then things turned ugly as some campers pelted deputies with beer bottles, cans and rocks, and the windshield of a fire truck was shattered by debris, according to AP.

Relient K Releasing Christmas Album Just in Time for Halloween!
PR reports: Relient K - the band that brought you Five Score And Seven Years Ago, mmhmm, Two Lefts Don't Make a Right(But Three Do) and The Anatomy of the Tongue in Cheek - is heralding the holiday season in its own inimitable style with the release of its first-ever, full-length Christmas album: Let It Snow, BabyLet It Reindeer. The album, scheduled for release by Capitol Music Group on October 23rd, features Relient K's take on 10 holiday classics and six original songs.

From the glory of "Handel's Messiah" and "Angels We Have Heard On High" to the goofiness of 1950's novelty song "I'm Gettin' Nuttin' For Christmas" and "Santa Clause Is Thumbing To Town" (wherein Relient K imagines a Christmas full of catastrophes that reduce St. Nick to hitchhiking), Let It Snow, BabyLet It Reindeer captures the many sides of the season.

There's elation ("I Celebrate The Day") and depression ("I Hate Christmas Parties"), nods to "Boxing Day" and New Year's Eve ("Auld Lang Syne" - with a new ending) and lots of old-fashioned fun along the way ("Deck The Halls," "12 Days of Christmas," "Sleigh Ride," "We Wish You A Merry Christmas," to name a few). The collection was produced by Mark Lee Townsend and Relient K vocalist, Matt Thiessen.- more on this story including the full tracklist

Boston Tribute Late Singer
antiMusic reports: Members of Boston paid tribute to their late singer Brad Delp on Sunday night. Members of the band performed one of their signature songs at a tribute concert that also featured Extreme frontman and guitarist Gary Cherone and Nuno Bettencourt.

The five-hour event took place Sunday night at the Bank of America Pavilion in Boston and was dubbed "Come Together: A Tribute to Brad Delp". Delp took his own life in March after reportedly suffering from depression.

Some of the highlights of the evening came when Cherone and Bettencourt performed a song they had co-written with Delp. The Boston Globe reports that "Delp's post-Boston outfit with Goudreau, RTZ, gave a heartfelt performance that included a new number written after his passing called 'Set the Songbird Free.'" Then Tom Scholz, Barry Goudreau and Fran Sheehan took to the stage to cap off the event to perform their hit "Don't Look Back" in honor of Delp.

antiMusic reports: He was called the "Godfather of Soul" and "The Hardest Working Man in Show Biz" but it looks like he was also rather busy offstage and the father of quite a few souls. That's right, another James Brown offspring has been discovered through the wonders of modern science.

Another child of Brown has been discovered using DNA testing. The woman that tested positive this time is the third person proven to be the child of Brown through DNA testing since his death, his longtime adviser Buddy Dallas told The Augusta Chronicle.

There may be more Brown children out there.- more on this story

Ticketmaster Drops Live Nation?
antiMusic reports: Calling Pearl Jam. Ticketmaster will not renew its contract with the largest US venue operation, Live Nation, according to an internal memo.

According to the New York Times, Ticketmaster chairman Terry Barnes and CEO Sean Moriarty sent a memo to employees announcing, "Live Nation has been a valued client for a very long time and we believe we've taken every reasonable step possible to facilitate a renewal, but they seem intent on a direction for their business that leaves us no viable way to work together."

The two parties have been negotiating a renewal of their agreement that expires at the end of next year. A sticking point was reportedly how the two sides would split the excessive monopoly customer rape charges a.k.a. service and convenience charges.

Moz Rejects Smiths Reunion
antiMusic reports: Most people have a price but it looks like $75 million isn't enough to convince Morrissey to reunite with Johnny Marr for a Smiths reunion.

Morrissey's publicist told Billboard that Moz turned down a cool $75 million for a Smiths reunion that required guitarist Johnny Marr to take part. The offer was for a 2008 and/or 2009 tour according to the report.

This isn't the first time that Moz has turned down millions for a reunion. The Smiths reportedly were offered a multi-million dollar deal to perform at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival.- more on this story

Navarro Porn
antiMusic reports: With the Rock Star TV series going down in flames after a dismal season last year (thanks T-Bonehead), Dave Navarro had a bit of time on his hands and idle hands are the devil's playthings so Navarro is moving into a new entertainment medium: pornography.

Navarro has taken part in porn star Tera Patrick and her metalhead husband Evan Seinfeld's new porn series where they call on celebs to direct feature length porn movies. You can just bet it took a lot of arm-twisting to convince Dave to do it.

The former Jane's Addiction guitarist's film entitled "Broken" is set for release on September 27th by Patrick and Seinfeld's production company Teravision and stars teen porn star Sasha Grey. - more on this story
