Golden City Giving It Away
PR reports: Golden City announces the release of its debut EP, entitled "1," available now as a free download at MySpace and Virb. Recorded in forty-eight hours by the renowned producer Ian Love (Burn, Cardia, Rival Schools) and made available the following day, the "1" EP showcases the singing and songwriting of Eric Richter, formerly of such acclaimed bands as Christie Front Drive, Antarctica, and The 101, on guitar and vocals, with Jim Lehnhoff (guitar), Chris Peterson (bass), and Jeremy Jones (drums), also of The 101.

The "1" EP highlights the band's penchant for distinctive songwriting supported by memorable choruses peppered with intertwining guitar lines. "Diamond Suits" follows, recalling the sonic luster of Richter's past bands while suggesting how bright Golden City's future promises to be. The EP's last song, "Cars in Space," with its swelling harmonies, serves as an ideal finale to the much-anticipated first three selections from Golden City.

On the strength of the "1" EP Golden City is already confirmed for appearances at DenverFest III (playing its final night, September 2) and at this year's CMJ Festival (October 1620, date TBD). Eisley Preview
PR reports: Combinations, the second full length from Tyler, Texas pop-rockers, Eisley hits stores tomorrow, August 14th but you can hear it now in its entirety, exclusively on MySpace. When listening to Eisley's new album Combinations, it doesn't take long to hear why the Tyler, Texas quintet has earned such ardent fans. In the first minute of the album's opener the rock-oriented "Many Funerals" sisters and vocalists Stacy and Sherri DuPree trade lines and harmonize with a beauty unique in modern music, as the guitars and drums carry the song along.

Building on the success of their lauded debut Room Noises, the guitar-driven Combinations is a diverse collection of songs that nevertheless fit comfortably together. The lyrics shift effortlessly from romantic to quirky ("Invasion" even involves an alien takeover), but always keep the listener fixated on the track at hand.

But where Room Noises contained a mix of new songs and re-recorded older tunes, Combinations is the band's first full-length of all new material. "It was exhilarating for us to have an opportunity to start from scratch," Stacy says. "We were excited to start writing this record and, because of that energy, we wrote a lot of the songs very quickly." The album was produced by former Oingo Boingo keyboardist Richard Gibbs.
