Dinner with Matt & Kim |
Mason delights singer-keyboardist Matt Johnson and drummer Kim Schifino with a unique black olive cobbler made with Kalamata olives sweetened with port wine and finished with a streusel topping. Mason serves the cobbler with homemade almond ice cream, a perfect dish for the undeniably sweet, chipper and down-to-earth couple who readily admit they love the fun and pandemonium of sweat-drenched hipsters crowd-surfing during their shows.
Matt and Kim hail from Brooklyn where they
met in 2004 and started playing together, mostly for house parties and
small clubs. In Dinner with the Band, Matt and Kim show off their infectiously
exuberant onstage energy as they perform "It's a Fact," "Yea Yeah," and
"Jesse Jane."

Fire, Rain and Java for James Taylor |
"This set is an intimate retrospective of 40 years worth of songs and the people, places and events that inspired them," said Taylor. "I am very grateful to Don Mischer, Sydney Pollack, and Hear Music for taking great care with what are very personal songs for me and my fans."

Taylor called on veteran television events producer and director Don Mischer
("Kennedy Center Honors," and "Super Bowl XLI Halftime Show with Prince")

Golden City Giving It Away |
The "1" EP highlights the band's penchant for distinctive songwriting supported by memorable choruses peppered with intertwining guitar lines. "Gray" starts off the EP, its interlaced guitars and vocal refrain sticking immediately in the listener's head. "Diamond Suits" follows, recalling the sonic luster of Richter's past bands while suggesting how bright Golden City's future promises to be. The EP's last song, "Cars in Space," with its swelling harmonies, serves as an ideal finale to the much-anticipated first three selections from Golden City.
On the strength of the "1" EP Golden City is already confirmed for appearances at DenverFest III (playing its final night, September 2) and at this year's CMJ Festival (October 1620, date TBD). The "1" EP signals the arrival of a band from which much more is already eagerly expected.- grab the free tunes here

Working with veteran producer Glen Ballard (Alanis Morissette's "Jagged Little Pill"), Songs Of Mass Destruction showcases an artist who is unafraid of pushing boundaries and challenging herself.
Annie says that this album is the closest she's been so far to that authentically raw and emotional place, infused with the contrasts of beauty, yearning and sadness. - more on this story

Eisley Preview |
Building on the success of their lauded debut Room Noises, the guitar-driven Combinations is a diverse collection of songs that nevertheless fit comfortably together. The lyrics shift effortlessly from romantic to quirky ("Invasion" even involves an alien takeover), but always keep the listener fixated on the track at hand.
But where Room Noises contained a mix of
new songs and re-recorded older tunes, Combinations is the band's first
full-length of all new material. "It was exhilarating for us to have an
opportunity to start from scratch," Stacy says. "We were excited to start
writing this record and, because of that energy, we wrote a lot of the
songs very quickly." The album was produced by former Oingo Boingo keyboardist
Richard Gibbs.
