The "1" EP highlights the band's penchant for distinctive songwriting supported by memorable choruses peppered with intertwining guitar lines. "Gray" starts off the EP, its interlaced guitars and vocal refrain sticking immediately in the listener's head. "Diamond Suits" follows, recalling the sonic luster of Richter's past bands while suggesting how bright Golden City's future promises to be. The EP's last song, "Cars in Space," with its swelling harmonies, serves as an ideal finale to the much-anticipated first three selections from Golden City.
On the strength of the "1" EP Golden City is already confirmed for appearances at DenverFest III (playing its final night, September 2) and at this year's CMJ Festival (October 1620, date TBD). The "1" EP signals the arrival of a band from which much more is already eagerly expected. - grab the free tunes here
