Drowning Pool Week: Shame |
Shame was written fairly early compared to other songs on the record. The song continued to develop and grow as we played it live and in the rehearsal spot. For me this song is one of the most personal on the CD. I wrote the lyrics during one of those nights where I was drowning myself in booze and the head-grown pity spawned from being away from home and away from my family. My greatest fear, that someday my kids will resent me for being gone so much, inspired this song. For me "Shame" is an apology to everyone in my life that I have neglected in the pursuit of this music-starved-disease. Even though it's very personal I think that the core of the song expresses an emotion fundamental enough for listeners to relate it to their own relationships. The song also appeals to me musically because the guys captured every mood in this track.- Learn more about this new release, as well as their worthy USO efforts for wounded troops, grab tour dates and more here
Taking Back Sunday Injury |
The band made the announcement via their official site last week. Here is what they had to say: We are sorry to say that Mark has had to temporarily leave the Projekt Revolution tour. He threw his back out in Phoenix and went for an MRI. The doctor informed him that he has a herniated disc. We know he is in a lot of pain and would not go home if it was his choice. This injury can lead to permanent back pain if not treated so he is going home for further treatment and rest. We know he is going to return as soon as he is able to.- more on this story

No Ozzfest for Kids |
"A few days ago we got the news that Ozzfest would like for us to join the rest of the tour, playing on the second stage. The bags were packed, the RV was ready to go, and we had just 8 hours before we were leaving for the tour.
"Then, Jagermeister decided that since we were underage, they couldn't allow us to play on their stage.- more on this story
Korn Offended By Bozzio |
Shaffer says the band had planned to play with Terry Bozzio for at least one album and tour, but the sticksman made his position untenable after getting a little ahead of himself.
He explains, "There were certain demands that he made. We weren't ready to meet those demands. He was a great guy and a phenomenal drummer but the demands that he made were offensive. - Did he ask them to dress up in little bunny suits and declare their love while singing Missing Persons songs? No, he wanted a big pay day, read the details here.

Dillinger Injury Plan |
"April 28, 2005 Memphis, Tennessee... the Hi Tone. This is the show that will go down in infamy as far as my future with the band, my ability as a guitarist, and the use of my left hand in day-to-day life for years to come...maybe forever. Everything was a-okay through the halfway point of the set...full throttle, balls to the wall, all systems go. A song or two later however, my neck was giving me a sensation like no other I had ever experienced with all the sore neck issues that come with the trade. I didn't find out until we came home a couple of weeks later (missing all but two of the the shows on the rest of the tour) that I had ruptured a disc in my lower neck, and this was only the tip of the iceberg.
"We were only about a week into the U.S.
tour that included the show above, and as always a good number of the band/crew
were sick with the typical 'colds' from traveling to different climates
and working on little rest. Like clockwork, my cold progressed to bronchitis,
which eventually led to pneumonia, and again I didn't realize the severity
until we finally came home from the tour.

Weezer The Memoir |
The folks at Gawker weren't particularly kind to the songwriter noting: if they're anything like the rest of his creative output, [they'll have] started out world-changingly awesome and then became so lame they make Pete Wentz seem profound- punknews.org

Anthrax Not Going Mallcore |
ANTHRAX split with singer Joey Belladonna in January, less than two years after reuniting with him and other members of the band's "classic" lineup of the '80s and early '90s. Vocalist John Bush had been a member of the band before that, from 1992 to 2005.
Taylor confirmed that he was working with ANTHRAX on material for their next studio album in a June 2007 interview with Germany's Rock Hard magazine. Asked if he would become the group's vocalist, Taylor said, "It's been bandied about. I'm not saying anything right now because all it's been is just talked about...It kind of started as a joke.- more on this story
Iran Bust Rockers |
A witness said police raided the concert as it was going to end late on Wednesday night near the town of Karaj, about 50km west of the capital. "Police detained the young people who had gathered to enjoy music in a private orchard," said the witness, who requested anonymity for fear of government retaliation.
Calls to authorities were not immediately returned on Sunday, but the public prosecutor in Karaj, Ali Farhadi, said Saturday that about 230 people were arrested during the underground concert, which he described as "satanic". "Most of them were wealthy young people who were not aware of the satanic nature of the concert," Farhadi told state television.- more on this story

More James Brown Children Discovered |
Here is part of what the BBC had to report: DNA testing on about a dozen people who claimed late soul star James Brown was their father has revealed that at least two of them were telling the truth.
A former adviser for the Sex Machine singer, Buddy Dallas, said he could not confirm exact figures as further test results were forthcoming. Brown died on Christmas Day last year, aged 73, after being admitted to hospital with severe pneumonia.- read the BBCs detailed report here
Ozzfest Loses Another Band |
Circus Diablo explained their departure as having to do with imminent stork visits for Ricky Warwick and Brett Scallions. Of course, they probably knew the due dates for their new offspring before the tour got underway but it's as good as an excuse as any.
A few weeks back Mondo Generator dropped off the tour with very little explanation. They were replaced by a Roadrunner band that we won't name since the last time we posted news about them instead of getting a thanks for coverage we received a rather nasty email from a junior PR jaggoff at the label because we didn't include a link to their website.- more on this story

Of course, LePage has left the group one time before so who knows if this parting will be permanent. We were unable to find an official statement about LePage's exit but Lambgoat did post a quote from him that you can read- here.
