GNR Inspired Va Tech Killer?
Blabbermouth reports: 23-year-old Korean student Cho Seung-Hui, who has been identified as the gunman at the Virginia Tech University massacre, wrote a play which takes its name from the GUNS N' ROSES song "Mr. Brownstone" and tells of a crew of 17-year-olds who skip school to gamble at a casino and fantasize about killing their professor. The play apparently goes through the lyrics of the entire GN'R song, relating Mr. Brownstone to the teacher the main characters want to kill.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Imus Down, Is Rap Next?
AP reports: In the wake of Don Imus' firing for his on-air slur about the Rutgers women's basketball team, a high-powered group of music-industry executives met privately Wednesday to discuss sexist and misogynistic rap lyrics. 

During the furor that led to Imus' fall last week from his talk-radio perch, many of his critics carped as well about offensive language in rap music.

The meeting, called by hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons' Hip-Hop Summit Action Network, was held at the New York home of Lyor Cohen, chairman and chief executive of U.S. music at Warner Music Group.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Cowell Denies Eyeroll
TMZ reports: TMZ spoke with Simon Cowell this morning about last night's incident on "A.I.," in which Cowell sarcastically rolled his eyes [see full story link] after contestant Chris Richardson offered condolences to the families of the victims at Virginia Tech.

Cowell told TMZ, "I couldn't hear what Chris had said. I was talking to Paula. My reaction (rolling his eyes) was to what he had said previously, that singing nasally is a form of singing."

It's true, when the judges are off camera they frequently jab at each other as the singers do their thing.

Ben Lee Gets A Little Help From His Friends
Reuters reports: Australian singer/songwriter Ben Lee has drafted Mandy Moore and Good Charlotte guitarist Benji Madden for his next album. 

"Ripe," the follow-up to 2005's "Awake Is the New Asleep," is due out September via indie label New West.

Moore, who is gearing up for the release of her own album in June, guests on the track "Birds and Bees," which Lee likens on his blog to "Summer Lovin"' from the musical "Grease."[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Stoned Horses
Reuters reports: Preparations to sedate as many as 300 horses stabled at Belgrade's racecourse to keep them calm during a Rolling Stones concert have enraged Serb animal lovers who are lobbying to have the gig moved to another venue.

Blabbermouth reports: HELLYEAH, the new band featuring former PANTERA/DAMAGEPLAN drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott alongside members of MUDVAYNE and NOTHINGFACE, has parted ways with bassist Jerry Montano (NOTHINGFACE, DANZIG). His replacement will be announced shortly.

BW&BK reports: Roadrunner Records has issued the following update on SANCTITY, who are currently on a European tour with TRIVIUM, ANNIHILATOR and GOJIRA: 

"While touring the UK supporting Trivium, Sanctity was involved in an accident last night (April 17th) in Nottingham, England when a taxi hit the band's van, driving them into a brick wall. Thankfully, no one was injured, just a few bumps and bruises. The band is hitching a ride with their friends in Trivium until the van can be repaired." Contact Music reports: Britney Spears has reportedly fired her long-time manager for failing to get her career back on track.

According to the New York Post's Page Six magazine, the troubled pop star even blames Larry Rudolph for the fall out from her much reported recent nights out Paris Hilton because he introduced her to the hotel heiress.

Styx Join Def Lep Tour
PR reports: STYX is pleased to announce that they will be joining Def Leppard on their summer concert tour of the United States and Canada. The 50 date tour kicks off on June 27th in Cincinnati and ends on September 30th in Edmonton. Foreigner is scheduled to appear on select dates.
