Muse
Vs Live Earth |
hecklerspray.com reports: unlike so many
publicity-seeking celebrity idiots [Muse are] one of the first people
to actually question the logic of holding a gigantic energy-devouring concert
in order to 'tackle' climate change. We're talking, of course, about
Live Earth - officially all set to be the hypocritical ego-fuelled
all-star shindig of the summer. Muse frontman Matt Bellamy shared his thoughts:
"Private jets for climate change, not sure about it that seems to be a
bit on edge really- that's an issue really, so we need to think about it!"
Ashok Sinah, director of Stop Climate Chaos,
has leapt to the defence of the soon-to-be-assembled pop stars, however:
"They have to reduce carbon emissions, we have to do reduce carbon emissions,
and in just the same way that we may look at a pop star and say, you use
more carbon than I do,' then people from Africa could look at us and think
we don't go flying around everywhere, I have met people in Africa who haven't
even made a phone call let alone get on a plane."
To which three responses immediately spring
to mind: a) Yes, we do all have to reduce carbon emissions, and
therefore should have better things to worry about than arranging a nice
big pop concert [see full story for more including which band has a plan

Band Supernovas |
Blabbermouth reports: According to ET Canada,
former GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Gilby Clarke has left ROCK STAR SUPERNOVA,
the band he formed with Tommy Lee (MÖTLEY CRÜE), Jason Newsted
(VOIVOD, ex-METALLICA) and Canadian vocalist Lukas Rossi. No reason was
given for Gilby's departure but the disastrous sales of the group's self-titled
debut album (which has shifted less than 56,000 copies in the United States
since its November 2006 release, according to Nielsen SoundScan) are believed
to have been a contributing factor.
Although Rossi didn't confirm Clarke's
exit from the band, he told ET Canada that "there will be a name change
the best is yet to come!" He also said that he is working on lyrics for
a new album.[see full story for more]- Click

Reuters reports: Warner Music Group on Thursday
demanded that online retailer AnywhereCD remove its digital albums from
the site, saying the start-up had violated their agreement by selling Warner's
music without copy protection software.
But the fourth-largest music company appeared
to make a concession to calls for music without copy restrictions, known
as DRM, by saying it was acceptable for AnywhereCD to help fans rip CDs

Revolver Abandon Previous Bands Music |
Blabbermouth reports: VELVET REVOLVER guitarist
Slash spoke to Chile's Rock & Pop about selecting songs for the band's
current South American tour. He reportedly said that they chose to keep
songs from the previous setlist around because the band has never played
South America before, and that they added four new songs as well. Throughout
South America, VR will still be playing GUNS N' ROSES and STONE TEMPLE

Axl Loses Civil Rights Case |
Jam! reports: Deputies didn't use excessive
force in an altercation with Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson at a hotel on
New Year's Eve 2003, a federal judge has ruled.
Lifeson, whose real name is Alex Zivojinovich,
had sued in federal court claiming that Collier County deputies violated
his civil rights while subduing him and his son during a skirmish at a
party at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Naples, Fla. Tasers were used on the
pair, and Lifeson's nose was broken.
But U.S. District Judge Paul Magnuson wrote
in a ruling last week that deputies' actions "were objectively reasonable."
