week: Evil Disco Behemoth |
Day in Rock reports: We've had a lot of fun
with our special Static-X week with Wayne sharing info on some of his favorite
songs on the new CD 'Cannibal'. In fact, we had so much fun we're going
to continue next week! But you don't have to wait til Monday, today Wayne
explains the track "BEHEMOTH". Here is Wayne: "One goal of mine for Cannibal
was to get back to the Evil Disco a bit more than our recent efforts. This
song is 100% pure Evil Disco. I started with the intro programming which
is full-on dance floor material, then just started building up the layers.
First the live drum beat, then the guitar. I love this song, before you
know it you've gone from dancing to banging your head." Grab a listen of
the track at the full story link and if you still haven't picked up the
new CD, this weekend would be a good time to do it. See you next week with
our conclusion of this special! - Click

Former
KISS Guitarist Mark St John Dies |
Sleazeroxx.com reports: Former KISS guitarist
MARK ST JOHN passed away this morning of a brain hemorrhage. He was 51.
Mark replaced KISS guitarist VINNIE VINCENT in 1984, only to shortly thereafter
develop Reiters Syndrome, a form or arthritis, which left his hand too
swollen at times to play guitar. Mark played on all but one of the tracks
of the 1984 Animalize album. On the subsequent tour his condition had deteriorated
and was only able to play 1 full and 3 partial shows. BRUCE KULICK was
called in as a temporary guitarist to play the remainder of the partial
sets as well as the rest of the tour. Mark's condition was not improving
and sadly had to soon step down to have Kulick take his place permanently
on December 8,1985.
His musical career not over, Mark later
formed the band White Tiger in 1986 and then interestingly enough teamed
up with former KISS drummer PETER CRISS to record a demo in 1990. A self-produced
CD entitled the MARK ST JOHN Project was released in 1999. [see full story

Panic!
At The Disco Plan Concept CD |
punkbands reports: The upcoming Panic! At
The Disco album is said to be a concept album with a love story. The band
writes: We all got together and created this I guess you could call it
a concept that we all wrote and we were all involved with and pretty
interested in. Most people who listen to our music can't relate to what
it's like to tour and play shows and live on the road. That's the last
thing we want to write about, because we do it all the time anyway. It's
kind of a love story. [see full story for more]- Click

Victory
Vs eMusic |
CMJ reports: Chicago-based Victory Records,
fresh off expanding their operational capacity, has announced that it will
remove its music catalog from the popular subscriber-based online music
store eMusic. Victory founder Tony Brummel, an outspoken opponent of outlets
like eMusic for making music "disposable," was reportedly upset with the
new eMusic service Connoisseur, which allows users who download in mass
quantities to get songs for as low as 25 cents a track when they stretch
the plan to its max. When contacted by CMJ for comment, Brummel simply
stated "Quarters are for parking meters and we're in the record industry."
