Sonic Youth Sign up Wooden Wand
PR reports: The legendary musicians and tastemakers in Sonic Youth have professed their love for folkadelic troubadour Wooden Wand, taking him on tour as their opening act in February and lending their support in the making of his latest album, James & The Quiet.

Thurston Moore -- Sonic Youth's spry, eternally-teenaged guitarist/vocalist -- recently signed Wooden Wand to his Ecstatic Peace label (home of Be Your Own Pet), announcing a June 12th release date for James & The Quiet. The album was produced by SY guitarist Lee Ranaldo (who also plays some stringed things on the recording), and longtime SY drummer Steve Shelley provides his signature rhythmic strut.

Epitaph for
PR reports: Epitaph Records is thrilled to announce the signing of Gallows, touted by Kerrang magazine as "the world's most exciting new band". The legendary punk label will release the band's already completed and much acclaimed album Orchestra Of Wolves, with the addition of three exclusive bonus tracks for North America, on July 10. "Punk rock is back and its new name is Gallows," says Epitaph president Brett Gurewitz. "This is the band we've all been waiting for."

Comprised of Frank Carter (vocals), Steph Carter (guitar/vocals), Laurent Barnard (guitars/keys/vocals), Stuart Gili-Ross (bass) and Lee Barratt (drums), Gallows hail from the gloomy streets of Watford, UK where they formed in 2005. Inspired by early 80s hardcore bands like Minor Threat and Black Flag, 90s Swedish hardcore such as Refused, the metal riffs of Mastodon and the discordance of underground bands such as Swing Kids, and JR Ewing, Gallows' ultimate goal was to wrestle punk back from the fashion police and re-invest it with the passion, brutality and menace that characterized their British forebears.- Click Here for the Full Story

PlayRadioPlay EP
PR reports: Seventeen year-old Texan, Dan Hunter is the poptronica' genius behind PlayRadioPlay (PRP), which has already hit one million plays on MySpace and opened for Fall Out Boy all in the space of a single year. The highly anticipated EP The Frequency will available in stores April 24, 2007. And one short month later fans can find him on tour with some of the biggest names in music on Warped Tour.

PRP is often compared to Postal Service and The Smashing Pumpkins, the songs are like the soundtrack to your dreams. On the surface they're like cupcakes - sweet, cute and just bursting with pure happiness. But if you listen carefully to what this blissfully gentle voice is singing on songs such as "Bound To Get Caught" and "Compliment Each Other Like Colors", you'll discover a darker dimension to Dan's music. It's this diverse combination of sound and subject that gives his music depth and realness. It's what makes PRP stand out from everyone else.- Click Here for the Full Story

TFD Coming
PR reports: Following the (previous) demise of Brutal Truth, drummer/vocalist/performance artist Richard Hoak seized the opportunity to take grindcore music to its next and possibly final logical extreme with the creation of Total f***ing Destruction. Bored sick of the current state of punk rock etiquette' and label politics, TFD's music is preformed for the sheer joy of musical annihilation! Nauseatingly hyper blast beats are entangled with musical contortions inspired by a fast and pissed attitude that has been sorely missing from the sterile and stagnant state of so-called "extreme music."

With grind on the mind and destruction boiling in their veins, TFD has taken grind to a new place with an extremely unique album that consists of three parts: Part 1 is a proper grinding, metallic and perversely catchy batch of songs. Part 2 is an acoustic monster all in itself, completely different from anything heard in grind today. Part 3 is an enhanced cd that contains Live from Hazel's, a legendary live performance recorded in the bowels of Philadelphia. TFD's newest slab of filthy Philly cannabis-core Zen and the Art of Total f***ing Destruction is out in May with a carpet-bombing of live attacks lining up ahead of the occasion[see full story for the dates]- Click Here for the Full Story

....Bon Jovi: 52,612 Fans Can't Be Wrong
People may snicker at Bon Jovi and not take them seriously, but their songs still resonate. ....Pizzasaurus Rex Traveling Today on Yesterday's Maps...
Pizzasaurus Rex sounds like a 3AM slice shop in a college town. This is hardly a great name for a band, especially for a band that doesn't play stupid 2-minute punk ditties. To further muddle the message, P Rex compliments its stupid name with a great album title. (2.5 stars) - Read the full Pizzasaurus Rex Traveling Today on Yesterday's Maps review
