Christians Ban Slayer

KNAC reports: Mumbai-based EMI Virgin India Ltd said Friday (Oct. 6) it will recall all copies of the new Slayer album 'Christ Illusion' following protests by a Christian group, Mumbai-based Catholic Secular Forum (CSF).

Early this week, Joseph Dias, general secretary of CSF, issued a statement taking "strong exception" to the album`s cover artwork, which he said depicts "Christ with a missing eye and amputated arms." He added, "we also condemn the track, 'Skeleton Christ' as the lyrics are an insult to Christianity." The CSF also sent a memorandum to Mumbai`s police commissioner, adding that the album "will affect the sensibilities of the Muslims on the track 'Jihad' and secular Indians who have respect for all faiths."[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Jadakiss Arrested

AP reports: Rapper Jadakiss was arrested on suspicion of weapon possession after a traffic stop early Saturday, his second arrest on gun charges since 2004, authorities said.

Jadakiss, whose real name is Jason Phillips, was one of four people inside the car, Detective Sgt. Joseph Pietropaolo said. U2 Leaves Island

Gigwise reports: U2 left their record label of 27 years after being increasingly frustrated at Island's "hand's-off" approach, according to reports.

Rolling Stones Movie

Gigwise reports: Legendary film director Martin Scorsese is set to work on a documentary about The Rolling Stones.

Opeth Skip South America

blabbermouth.net reports: Sweden's OPETH has posted the following message on its official web site: "Despite trying to come to South America numerous times, it is with regret that OPETH cannot get to South America this year. [Doing] a proper headline show involves OPETH bringing a lot of equipment with them. New airline excess baggage rules mean that this equipment now has to be freighted and the costs of doing this did not make the tour financially viable. Masterplan Riot

blabbermouth.net reports: German melodic metal band MASTERPLAN has announced the addition of singer Mike DiMeo (RIOT, THE LIZARDS) and drummer Mike Terrana (YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, AXEL RUDI PELL, METALIUM, RAGE) to the group's ranks.

MASTERPLAN recently began recording its third album � the group's first without singer Jorn Lande, who announced his departure in early May. Spikefest 2006

blabbermouth.net reports: The organizers of Spikefest 2006, a series of events designed to raise money for D.R.I. guitarist Spike Cassidy, who was recently diagnosed with colon cancer, have sent the following update to BLABBERMOUTH.NET:

"Our original concept was to utilize the resources most readily available to us; bands, venues, and music fans. A single benefit show snowballed into around 40 separate events in USA and Europe. To keep things simple, most take place on one of three consecutive days. pr-inside reports: Singer RYAN ADAMS has shut down his online forum after feeling threatened by a comment Posted by a fan. The NEW YORK, NEW YORK rocker insists the move doesn't constitute a permanent closure and the discussion board will be up-and-running again, as soon as security measures have been tightened. The website's administrator says, "One event in particular has caused this to come to a head. "I won't go into details, but sensitive information was exposed on the board that was a threat to both Ryan and the band. Oliveri Vs Homme

Gigwise reports: Former Queens of the Stoneage bassist Nick Oliveri recently has lashed out at front-man Josh Homme to Gigwise.com. Oliveri said,

"He sold himself short thinking he is 'The Guy'. There are so many elements that keep that train moving. It [QOTSA] got to be pretty big so for one person to think it was just them on their own is just absurd."

Dresden Disco

punkbands reports: Tourmates Panic! At The Disco and The Dresden Dolls have teamed up to make a video. The Las Vegas band feature in the video to The Dresden Dolls' new single 'Backstabber' after the two groups toured the US together.

punkbands reports: As we reported this week Travis Barker broke his arm and had to postpone the upcoming tour with The Matches. In an interview with MTV he said that he's determined to man the kit on Plus-44's upcoming North American tour. Even if it means drumming with just one arm.

Google to Gobble Up YouTube?

SMN reports: According to the BBC, Google is reported to be in talks to buy popular video-sharing website YouTube for $1.6bn (£856m). The Wall Street Journal said discussions between the two sides were at a sensitive stage and the talks could break up. Neither Google nor YouTube were available for comment.
