Thursday Keep it Real
punkbands reports: Katie Ellsweig of punkbands.com recently did an interesting interview with Thursday's Tim Payne. In this except Tim explains the direction the band took with 'A City By The Light Divided' and how they tried to distance themselves from the copycat bands that came after them:

Tim: We set out to do something that we have never done before. If people don't like it, I think that there's an issue with a lot younger people who will say "oh, there's no screaming." At this point, there are so many bands that scream for the sake of screaming and we've never been a band that wanted to do that for the sake of doing it. There were a lot of decisions we made as far as what kind of album we wanted to write that weren't based on what's happening in music in the present day; it's based on the people that we were. That's really how we wrote Waiting and Full Collapse: we were just friends making music together. Rock n Women: Maxine Petrucci
antiMusic reports: A while back antiCat's kitty litter lining supplier did a sham special touting the women of rock but put Britney on the cover. That left a lot of people scratching their heads because there are plenty of real women with real talent that really rock. We waited in vain for a major publication to correct this error but none took up that responsibility. That doesn't matter because we are doing it! For the next month, we will be showcasing rock n women with a brand new article each weekday by our very own Morley Seaver. Morley understands that women can rock along with the boys and hold their own. So join us as we celebrate the real women of rock from superstars to the up-and-coming artists you should know about. Today we look at Maxine Petrucci. When people think of shredders they think Van Halen, Vai etc but Maxine can shred with the best of them as Morley discovered when listening to her latest solo effort. Here is a bit of what he had to say in the introduction to his interview and review:

Rock fans were rejoicing the return of Maxine Petrucci last year with her new solo record Titania. Most will remember Maxine from her days as leader of Madam X, the band which also featured her sister Roxy (who later joined Vixen) and a young Sebastian Bach. Titania is a blistering record full of melodic but crunchy rock fare. Known as a shredder, Maxine doesn't disappointment, steaming through 10 tracks with blazing solos, saving the best for last with a ferocious "Max Attacks". Truly a solo record, she also played bass and does all vocals. Sister Roxy played drums on all tracks, even co-writing one song with Maxine, who wrote everything else herself. Titania is a terrific record that should put Maxine back into the scene in a big way. Look for a follow-up record later on this year.
