Loser |
Gigwise reports: Former Wailers bassist Aston
Barrett has lost his battle to recover what he says was £60m of unpaid
royalties.
Barrett alleged that he was owed the money
for earnings from songs co-written with Bob Marley and as part of a contract
signed with Island Records in 1974.
However the case has been dismissed the
morning by the presiding judge, Mr Justice Lewison, at the High Court in

Return |
CMJ reports: Former Weezer bassist Matt Sharp
is back in action with his other heralded band, cult-favorite the Rentals.
Sharp and founding member Rachel Haden have roped in a slew of new folks
for a Rentals reunion that will see both a new album and tour. The Rentals
are perhaps best known as one of the first bands to break the moog into
power-pop tunes, and their mid-'90s output (two albums, 1995's Return Of
The Rentals and 1999's Seven More Minutes) influenced a slew of imitators
years later.[see full story for more including some dates]-

Hall KISS Off |
Blabbermouth reports: KISS' official web site,
KissOnline.com, has been updated with part two of a brand new interview
with KISS guitarist/vocalist Paul Stanley. "The beauty of America is that
you can basically start any kind of private club you want to. This one
happens to be called the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. It's a very impressive
name for a club but it's an illusion. It's the creation of a group of industry
people and critics who decide who they deem as qualified to be in their
little admiration society. It's their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but it's
not the people's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Have you ever voted? I know
I haven't. That's why the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, besides having people
who very much belong in there, have an abundance of people who most people
will scratch their head and not even have a clue who they are. I don't
have anything against anybody who's been inducted, but more than a couple
of them are a joke. A band or musician's impact is measured by how they
change and influence society and other musicians. That and how many albums
and concert tickets they sell should be what gets them into the Hall of
Fame. As far as I'm concerned it's a private club with a misleading name.
It's a sham." [see full story for more]- Click

Slash & The Furious |
antiMusic reports: Slash revealed on Camp
Freddie Radio (hosted by Matt Sorum) that he just recorded some scoring
for "The Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift". He said it was the first time
he has done scoring for a film and did about 50 different takes in the
studio. He however did not write the music, the composer was Brian Tyler.
He was able to watch parts of the film while recording and said that the
movie will include one the coolest race scenes he's seen in distant memory.
The film hits theatres on June 16th. See full story for the official site.
Also Matt and Slash discussed the new Velvet Revolver CD and contrary to
some reports they say they have not settled on a producer yet. However,
Matt said they are doing one song with Dave Sardy (Wolfmother, Jet) and
also said that unlike some reports that they were going more pop, "I think
we're gonna be a little nastier sounding on this record hopefully." Slash
added that everything's he heard so far was "awesome". They cleared up
some of the producer rumors as well. On Lenny Kravitz rumor, they explaining
that Duff had run into Lenny and the "Fly Away" rocker had offered to produce
the new album. Slash added that what are usually casual conversations gets
into the press and turns into something else. So as it stands the only
confirmed producer working on the new album is Dave Sardy and that's only
for one song. - Click

Whiter
Teeth or Lighter Wallet? |
Metal Sludge reports: Johnny & Joey Gioeli
the brothers who formed Hardline are under investigation for a teeth whitening
scam. These guys use to play the Sunset Strip as Brunette and hailed from
Pennsylvania originally.
Mary Ann Hughes of Forest Park wanted to
breathe life into her dead tooth. ...$3.95 on her debit card would cover
the shipping. Instead of a trail size, Hughes received full supply, and
an invoice. "So I opened that and there was a charge for $106.90."
There was a catch in the fine print. Anyone
ordering the free treatment, instantly agreed to pay for a shipment of
the product every 60 days. They'd have to call to cancel or the whitener
and charges would keep coming. [see full story for more]-

Misfits
Recording |
punkbands reports: As previously reported
the Misfits are currently at work writing an all-new studio album. Yes
fiends, the band plans to return to the studio in 2006 to deliver the hardest,
most aggressive Misfits material to see the pressing plant since Earth
AD! Since the record is still in the writing stages, an exact release date
is far too early to determine at this time.
But as Jerry Only recently revealed in
an interview with Inpress Magazine Australia: "Our next album will coincide
with our 30th anniversary and that album will only reinforce how potent
the band has become with time."[see full story for more]-
