GNR's
new Guitarist? |
antiMusic reports: Metal Sludge thinks they
know who the new Guns N' Roses guitarist is. At least, someone on their
gossip board does. Sludge says that Bucketheads replacement is heavily
rumored to be Daniel Brooks from the Canadian band Shark. We will all know
on Friday when GNR play their first show with the new line up in New York
City. In fact, dear readers if you aren't luckily enough to be in NYC that
night but are close to your computer you can find out who is now in the
band within minutes of them hitting the stage by coming here to antiMusic.
That's right we're teaming up with Mark Strigl from the Talking Metal podcast
to bring you a live live review of the new GNR. Provided the tech gods
smile upon us, Mark will send us text messages as news breaks at the show
and we'll post them for you in real time. We'll have more details tomorrow
or Friday about this Texting GNR special and details about the Talking
Metal special podcast to follow as well as info about Talking Metal after
party in NYC. For now click the full story for Sludge's report on this
rumored guitarist. - Click

Selling Out |
Gigwise reports: Jack White has hit back over
the criticism he's received for writing the tune for a Coca-Cola advert.
But White is having none of it, saying:
"They (fans) assume someone drove up to my house with a truck full of money
and a gun to my head, and said, 'Crack open a Coke on television and give
the thumbs up.'
"That's not what happened. I saw a beautiful
ad, and I wrote a song for it because I was inspired by it. [We here at
antiMusic are inspired by big checks too. see full story for more]-

Behind
the Metal: antiGUY Special Report |
antiMusic reports: Vh1 has gotten a lot cooler
this month. Not trendy cool, but really cool. They did it by deciding to
dedicate the entire month to METAL! Now how cool is that? They kicked it
all off with their 40 Greatest Metal Songs of the All Time but things really
start kicking ass on tonight (May 11th ) when they premier the Pantera:
Behind the Music and for poppier side of metal Ratt: Behind the Music.
They were ever so kind to send over some screener previews of some of the
metal specials. So I'll give you a quick review of that and also let you
in on the other metal stuff kicking Vh1's ass this month.
Behind The Music We only received
the Ratt episode, but I can tell you that like almost every BTM, it's worth
watching even if you're not into the band (which was the case for me).
It starts with the early days when Stephen Pearcy teamed up with Robbin
Crosby and formed the band in San Diego and then chronicles their move
to Hollywood, the early days of rejection by almost every major label,
their eventual signing to Atlantic, their quick rise to multi-platinum
glory and the excesses that came along with it. Then it covers the fall
of Ratt from both internal and external forces. It's a bitter sweet story
and I won't spoil it with more details but I have to include the fact that
the episode includes rare never-before seen interview footage with Robbin
filmed shortly before he died. Premiers 9:00 PM Tonight! (May 11th)
The show I'm most looking forward to is
the Pantera: Behind the Music which premiers right after the Ratt BTM.
They didn't send a preview so I can't tell you much about it, but I'll
be watching right along with many of you. RIP Dime. [see full story for
