Box |
antiMusic reports: Sony BMG is taking an unusual
step forward in embracing the web. Unlike their contemporaries at Universal
that took the boneheaded of step of trying to charge websites to help them
promote their music, Sony is utilizing the "promo" value in promotional
videos by setting up a new website, Musicbox Video, which offers music
videos, interviews, behind-the-scenes footage and other video content of
their artists. And instead of trying to milk cash out of this promotional
material from websites, they are encouraging websites, blogs, and the sites
visitors to link or email links to the material to help spread the word.
They've even set up RSS feeds to video junkies to have instant access to
updates. To help keep down on the piracy factor they have encoded the videos
in Macromedia's Flash format. Now if they would only sign more artists
that are worth checking out. Check the site out at the full story link.

Lavery's
Solo Tonic |
PR reports: New Jersey-born and Los Angeles-based
writer-producer Dan Lavery is set to release a 3-song digital EP this week.
The songs will be available exclusively online everywhere digital music
is sold through Rock Ridge Music. The EP is the first to be released by
a member of the multi-platinum rock outfit, TONIC.
In 2004, Dan contributed a track to the
compilation of songs inspired by Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ,
an album which won a Dove Award from the Gospel Music Association. In addition,
Dan began writing and producing for other artists.
It wasn't until a meeting with Rock Ridge's
Derr earlier this year that he thought to release some of the material
that had been accumulating. "Most of these songs were recorded almost immediately
as inspiration struck, in the extra bedroom of my old home. There isn't
always time to overthink your performances, but to me that's often a good
thing", says Lavery. Listen to the first track, "Say That You Love Me"

Audiovent |
PR reports: Living up to their name as one
of the "100 Bands To Watch" for 2006 by Alternative Press Magazine and
"Ones To Watch" by the LA Times, Agent Sparks is set to release their first
full length album, Red Rover today. The album was produced by Incubus guitarist
Mike Einziger and is the follow-up to their critically-acclaimed 2005 EP/DVD,
Not So Merry. Agent Sparks is teaming up with 30 Seconds To Mars for tour
dates that will carry them through July 17TH and they will meet up with
Blue October for a few dates in August. The group has also been signed
on to play a show during Milwaukee's Summerfest.
Despite the connection, the tracks on Red
Rover are much different than any Incubus release as well as Ben and Paul's
former band on Atlantic Records, Audiovent. Vocal duties are shared by
Ben Einziger and keyboardist Stephanie Eitel (known for her performance
with Weezer on their track "Beverly Hills") and musically they have been
compared to the likes of The Pixies, Violent Femmes, X and many more. The
first single and video will be released in late July for the track, "Polly
Anne" although it is already being supported by stations across the country.

files. The Zoekmp3.nl site, run by Techno Design, was shut down after the
