Lennon Speaks... from the Grave
antiMusic reports: There are plenty of gullible morons in the world willing to fork over $9.95 to hear what John Lennon might have to say from the grave. Monday night's pay-per-view exploitation, oops special grossed close to $8 million according to the Reuters. And what did Mr. Lennon (or the show producers) wish to (have Lennon) say to the world 26 years after his death? "Peace ... The Message is Peace."

"Tell Paul his new album sucks" was leading the pool here at antiMusic. But Lennon still wants to talk about peace. Or at least that's what the producers said they captured with an EVP (the voice of a spirit captured on tape). Reuters reports, "The show's organisers said psychic Joe Power's voice feed went dead for a few seconds and the message was found on it when the tape of the voice feed was played back." As the profits Penn and Teller (well one of them at least) once said, we'll believe it when we read this headline "Psychic wins lottery". But if you really really care to learn more about this sham.. er special, click the full story link.

Bling Sucks
hecklerspray reports: Think hip-hop and you think bling: wealthy young black men driving purple Lamborghinis stuffed with bitches and/or hoes dripping with diamonds. And LL Cool J has had enough of it.

Ditching his furry Kangol hat, or whatever it is he wears these days, LL Cool J has decided to take a stand and urge his fans to be more prudent with their money. Excessive spending on unnecessary fripperies is wack, says LL Cool J, while conserving your assets by placing them in a number of low-risk fixed interest investments is fly to the motherf***ing max. Pistols May Reunite
punkbands reports: The official John Lydon website recently posted a lengthy interview with the Sex Pistols frontman that addresses a number of issues. Among the things discussed were the version of the band's history publicised by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on their induction night (which Lydon disputes), a possible lifetime achievement award from the British Music Awards, and the rumours of a Japanese tour.

...I'd like to do one gig in Japan, live TV, and not bother with a whole tour because there's no need for it. And I've got too many other things to do. All of us have other work obligations now. Steve and his radio and whatever, and that's important, you know? We would do a gig for fun. For fun. And funds! (laughs) I like my fun funded! And you can quote me on that! (laughs)

Like I said, it would be a possibility if it's one gig with a possible TV broadcast. Then it's special. It would be like a thank you present. Any other way, no. [see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story

Fat Jokes
Day in Rock reports: Say what you want about Fat Wreck being a crap label and all but they do have a sense of humor. They took to their website in a parody of the recent leaked email exchange from Victory's president and Apple's CEO. Here is a taste...

Fat Mike to Bill Gates Dear Bill, Can I call you Bill? I doubt this will ever get through to you because of all the absurd corporate policies that mire your dated company. Here goes nothin'

As the part-owner of the 39th biggest independent label I felt that it would be prudent for us to open up a dialog and proctor a mutually beneficial business plan that involves our two companies. After all Bill, we are talking about the 39th biggest independent punk label here. We don't just peddle CDs and LPs at Fat Wreck Chords, we commodify the underground.[see full story and punkbands will hook you up with the full prank]- Click Here for the Full Story

Killswitch Boyband?
Rockdirt reports: Opeth frontman Mikael Akerfeldt spoke with Australia's Time Off magazine, where he sounded off on today's music scene. "Most of the bands today, I don't really like them," he said. "When I grew up it was like heresy to compare Killswitch Engage and whatever you got going with [Iron] Maiden and [Judas] Priest. Especially in America, it seems to be a little trend-goin'... it's corporate business. The bands feel manufactured, almost like boy bands with guitars.[see full story for more]- Click Here for the Full Story
