Cherry for Lane |
antiMusic reports: If you can believe it,
over 100 guitarists actually auditioned to play with Jani Lane. Lane is
putting together a band to tour as Jani Lane's Warrant in North and South
America, Europe and Japan. Wes Borland lost out on the gig to 16-year-old
Boston native Dario Lorina.
Lorina relocated to Vegas at the ripe age
of 12 to pursue a career in music and has jammed with John Petrucci of
Dream Theater, Mark Slaughter and Dana Strum of Slaughter, Nikki Sixx of
Motley Crue, Skid Row, Chris Degarmo and Michael Wilton of Queensryche,
Michael Anthony of Van Halen, George Lynch and Billy Sheehan, according
to Sleaze Roxx.
Now we won't make any cherry pie jokes
but what is Jani gonna do when some of the bar owners refuse to let the
underage guitarist into the venue? Read more at the full story link. [see

Darth
Singer |
antiMusic reports: Ok you know this whole
dancing with the stars craze that imploded on p.diddy last week when his
lame cooking show got nixed. Fox had some lame take off as well, ice skating
or some retarded thing. Rhino Records is not going nearly that extreme
as tried to find Hollywood stars that could sing for the new "Unexpected
Dreams: Songs from the Stars" CD in stores April 25th .
Stars like Ewan McGregor, Scarlett Johansson,
John Stamos (is he a star?) and Teri Hatcher sing songs by Elton John,
Billy Joel, Sade, Bob Dylan and Lennon/McCartney etc accompanied by musicians
from the Los Angeles Philharmonic. So don't expect a rocker here. However,
a portion of the proceeds will benefit "Music Matters," the Los Angeles
Philharmonic's music education programs. How big a portion we do not know.
Now like all celeb tie-ins these days we could trash this one but we'll
be cool and let you make your own judgment unprejudiced by us, click the
full story link to listen to the entire CD and if you like it buy it. If
you don't like it

Mr. Lif Comin |
audible treats reports: Some artists make
albums because they can. The great ones make albums because they have to.
With that said, the first thing you need to know about Boston-bred MC Mr.
Lif's new album, Mo' Mega, is that this is the album he had to make.
Hot off of last year's smash success with
the Perceptionists (his collaboration with fellow MC Akrobatik and one
of Rolling Stone's Top 50 Albums of 2005), Lif is back with an arsenal
of new rhymes that showcase his massive talents as an MC, poet, and true
life reporter. Led off by the driving single "Brothaz," the album covers
a wide spectrum ranging from introspective deliberation to biting social
commentary. And while Lif is not one to mince his words, the album maintains
a balance of heavy subjects mixed with more light-hearted fare. Mo Mega's
songs touch on everything from the gluttony of American consumerism in
"Ultra/Mega" and "The Fries", to the dark underbelly of the music industry
in the parody "Murs is my Manager", to a comical look at proper hygiene
in "Was***up!"[see full story to hear Brothaz]- Click

Remote
Release |
Press Release reports: On July 11, The Remote
releases their debut album Too Low To Miss. The Remote is comprised of
Ashley Casselle (previously recording under the name Ashtrax) and front
man Ben Lost who have joined forces to create an incredibly cool electronic
band project. With a voice reminiscent of Pete Shelley from the Buzzcocks,
the sexually ambivalent looks of a young Bowie and the rock n' roll presence
of a youthful Iggy Pop, The Remote has in Ben Lost a front man for a new
generation. This album should be high on your radar. [see full story for

Mike
Keneally Live CD |
Press Release reports: Mike Keneally has released
many different kinds of albums over the past few years - the rock/pop studio
opus Dog, the orchestral The Universe Will Provide, the solo piano Vai
Piano Reductions Vol. 1, the acoustic Wooden Smoke - so it's not surprising
that the people who know him primarily as a rock guitar virtuoso might
be a little confounded when it comes to categorizing Keneally's solo work.
Keneally has never shown much interest
in categories, but he has prepared a new live album which is the closest
thing to a "Rock Guitar album" he's yet offered. In mid-2005, Keneally
felt an irresistible calling to assemble his dream-lineup Mike Keneally
Band, and take to the road for the first time in years. So Mike, bassist
extraordinaire Bryan Beller, sublimely Zen guitarist Rick Musallam and
impossible drummer Joe Travers took to the road on the Guitar Therapy tour.
Those who saw the shows were floored by the power, precision and concentrated
emotion they experienced. The group left the stage most nights knowing
something magical had happened. This is GUITAR THERAPY LIVE (June 27 release),
which is destined to find favor with guitar enthusiasts, lovers of powerful
and adventurous rock and jazz, and jamband fans alike.[see full story for

turn some heads with his new album I Luv Cali which hits stores on May
16th. Just how is he gonna turn heads? How about releasing a single called
"F*ck buddy"? He gave into the Walmarts of the world and recorded a cleaner
version called "Sex Buddy," which is a huge difference from Weezer turning
"We are all on Drugs" into the ubber lame "We Are All In Love". So wanna
