Cab For Peta |
Peta reports: Noted indie producer, multitalented
Death Cab for Cutie member, and longtime vegetarian Chris Walla has teamed
up with peta2PETA's youth-focused divisionto create a brand-new public
service announcement (PSA) that encourages the band's legions of devoted
fans to eat their veggies. The PSA, which Chris designed himself, shows
him standing behind a heaping plate of colorful vegetables next to the
tagline "Add Some Color to Your LifeTry Vegetarianism!" Chris chose the
theme for the adinspired by the classic 1968 film 2001: A Space Odysseyin
which he is dressed in a white shirt and white tie against a stark white
background. Chris also sat down for an exclusive video interview to chat
about why he went veg at 13, and viewers can find out what made him remark,
"I feel like such a mother," by watching the video at peta2.com. -

The
Nomi Song DVD |
press release reports: The Nomi Song DVD,
will be released by Palm Pictures on June 14
A film by Andrew Horn, The Nomi Song recounts
the story of groundbreaking performance artist Klaus Nomi - a true original
on this or any other planet, who looked like an alien, sang like a diva,
and became a cult figure in the new wave scene of the early 80's. Sadly,
just as his career was gathering steam in 1983, Nomi became one of the
first celebrities to succumb to AIDS, silencing his otherworldy falsetto
forever...until now. Packed with extras (including bonus scenes, and 4
exclusive audio remixes featuring The Scissor Sisters' ana matronic) and
narrated by countless contemporary artists as well as members of Klaus'
new wave milieu, The Nomi Song is a tale both heartfelt and inspiring,
which Palm is very proud to bring to music and art lovers everywhere.[see

Live
8 All-Star Lineup Includes Pink Floyd, U2, Stones and More |
antiMusic reports: Bob Geldof has put the
rumors to rest and announced Live 8, an ambitious 16-hour concert marathon
that will span the globe and feature a who's who of popular music including
Paul McCartney, U2, Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones, Linkin Park, Madonna,
Mariah Carey, Mary J Blige, 50 Cent, Coldplay, Robbie Williams, REM, Oasis,
Sting, Will Smith, Bon Jovi, Dave Matthews Band, Stevie Wonder, the Cure,
P. Diddy, Crosby, Stills and Nash, Lauren Hill, Duran Duran, Razorlight
and Brian Wilson.
Geldof insists that this isn't Live Aid
2, which was organized to raise money to battle famine in Africa. Live
8 is instead viewed as the dramatic climax to the "Make Poverty History"
campaign. A campaign designed to rally public support to encourage the
leaders of the world's eight wealthiest nations that will meet for the
G8 summit in Scotland on July 6th, to tackle the problem of Third World
debt and poverty by doubling aid, reforming trade laws and forgiving all
debt. [see full story for more including the full current lineup]-

SOAD
Vs Nature |
antiMusic reports: System of a Down weren't
going to let little things like Mother Nature, anxious promoters and a
damaged stage keep them from rocking the Festimad in Madrid, Spain on Saturday
night (May 28).
30,000 fans went to the Festimad with the
intention of rocking and literally got rocked by a deluge of dust and debris
carried by high winds which reached 60 mph. We received a report from the
System camp that a couple hours before the band were to take the stage
for their headlining performance the winds literally brought the metal
and canvas roof down on the outdoor stage. [see full story for more]-
