The
Fix Is In |
NME reports: Indie labels are planning to
fix this week's UK SINGLES CHART, published on April 17.
For the first time this week legal downloads
are eligible for the UK Top 40, but some in the music industry believe
this will make the chart open to rigging, and aim to prove their point
by fixing this week's poll.
According to Gut Records' Guy Holmes, unnamed
labels will use multiple downloads to push songs up the chart to demonstrate
how open to abuse they believe the new system is. [see full story for more]-

Flaw Deal |
press release reports: Louisville, Kentucky
five-piece Five Bolt Main has signed with the Rock Ridge Music label it
was announced today. The band features Chris Volz, former vocalist for
hard rock band FLAW, as well as several members who worked with Volz in
early incarnations of FLAW. The band plans to record their debut album
in Louisville's Canyon Studios in April and May, with Canyon owner Chris
Cassetta assisting with production duties. When the album is completed,
it will receive national distribution via Sixthman/ADA; a fall release
is planned. FLAW was signed to Republic/Universal Records previously, and
following CD scanned sales of over 445,000 on two albums combined, were
dropped in late 2004. They were praised for their first album, "Through
The Eyes," by ThePRP.com, who commented: "FLAW frontman Chris Volz's foreboding
moans and croons emphasize his words with a sweeping grace, only to explode
into jaggedly delivered contemporary metal tinged exorcisms. the band
create walls of twisting vibrant melodies that ascend to spiraling heights,
only to buckle over and trap the listener in a fiery wreckage of fearsome
modern metal crunch." [see full story for more]- Click

Bush's
iPod Playlist |
antiMusic reports: So what does President
George W Bush listen to on his iPod? It's not Barbara Streisand or Rage
Against the Machine. Instead, Bush seems satisfied with classic rock and
mainstream country.
The President received the best selling
song player as a birthday gift from his daughters last July. But you won't
find Slayer or Motorhead on his playlist. Instead the leader of the free
world listens to Van Morrison's "Brown Eyed Girl", The Knack's "My Sharona",
Joni Mitchell's "(You're So Square) Baby, I Don't Care" as well as country
selections from George Jones, Alan Jackson and Kenny Chesney. [see full
