As he and his piano "move on up" with the help of a crane, Goldblum gawks and comments on the happy families moving into an apartment building. He pauses his song to say, "Wait a minute--Is that George and Weezy?" a reference to George and Louise Jefferson, the central characters of the iconic show.
Because the reference is probably lost on younger viewers, the camera cuts to reveal George Washington and Lil Wayne in the penthouse together. "Who else would it be?" Weezy responds, and Goldblum resumes his song with gospel choir in tow. Watch the cross-generational promotion here.
Coldplay will play this year's halftime show and Marin spoke with Anthony Mason of CBS Sunday Morning about the challenges the prestigious gig holds.
"I love the whole concept of trying to present your entire musical life in twelve and a half minutes, it's a great challenge," said the singer. "After fifteen years of the band we've possibly got eleven good minutes, he laughs, "so we have some special guests, and they'll cover the rest." Watch it here.
Gomez says she dreams of the day she can chop all her hair off and go deep into a character's psyche, but for today the world of hit singles and 60 million Instagram followers will suffice.
"I'm utilizing social media right now because of my age and because, to be honest, everybody else in the world was talking about me, so I wanted a f-ing say," she told the magazine. "I honestly had to, because I didn't really expect my life to be as public as it was. Is this going to destroy me or make me? I still have to make that choice on a daily basis."
She says she doesn't feel the need to share too much or take her social presence too seriously, and in fact she even plans to step away from the social media game someday. Read more here.
"Look, we know what happened here, in the sense that unfortunately we still rely on systems, and there was a system error. But I don't think it hurt it at all," Grace Kim, TIDAL's director of Marketing, told SPIN. She later clarified the comment, saying she was referring to an error by the album's distributor--Universal Music Group (UMG).
An anonymous UMG executive bristled at Kim's suggestion in an interview with Billboard. "This whole thing is absurd, we would have taken responsibility if it were our error," one anonymous UMG executive told Billboard. "Instead of having their flack flail around trying to revise their own media spin, maybe they should just focus on serving Rihanna -- that's what we're focused on." Read more here.
In a role certain to win him rave reviews, Don Cheadle plays the part of one of jazz' most prominent figures. The actor not only channels the talented musician, he also makes his directorial debut in the biopic.
"It's not a traditional bio pic," Cheadle explained in an interview with Variety. It's not told in a way that makes sure we check off all the bench marks in Miles Davis' life. It's really more creative than that." Watch the trailer here.
"This new album is ONE of the greatest albums not the greatest just one of" he wrote. West lists the artists Q-Tip, Puff, Hov, Lauren, Pharcyde, Mary, Stevie, Michael, Hendrix, James, Pete Rock, Pac and Marvin as the company he hopes to keep.
"So many musicians touch my life and made me who I am' I want to make something great to honor my idols," he continued. Kanye's Twitter presence has taken a strikingly diplomatic tone this week following an explosive feud with Wiz Khalifa several days ago. In the lead-up to the February 11 release, West seems determined to make more positive Waves on social media. Read more here.
"We just felt like we were maybe getting to a point where we wanted to step back," he tells Radio.com. "As a band we said, 'Let's just take some time, enjoy our families.'"
Oddly enough, the first taste of the album that we heard is the title track, which features Dierks Bentley and Eric Paslay. Apparently, Kelley likes being part of a vocal trio. "It's the song I'm probably the most proud of on the project. And it just happens to be that that's the one with another trio of voices."
Another song on the album is a cover of Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers' "Southern Accents." "Every time I hear that song, it just reminds me of my dad and how he grew up. He was one of those guys that really did walk five miles to school, and had to work on the farm after school, and did things like that. So I always kind of picture him in my mind when I'm singing that song." Read more here.
When Sang asked Malik about shooting the video with his girlfriend, Malik didn't deny the term. "Yeah, that was cool," he said. "It was something different. We enjoyed it, it was fun. Had a lot of fun on set."
It may not be the most official of confirmations, but he certainly didn't try to correct Sang from describing Hadid as his "girlfriend." Malik also opened up writing "Pillowtalk" after leaving One Direction. "[I] got in the studio with a couple of writers that go by the name of Mike and Anthony Hannides," he explained. "We wrote that song around the time that I was feeling those emotions and I feel like that's why it came out the way it did. I feel like in the vocal you can get a sense that I'm meaning what I'm saying."
Malik wouldn't go into detail about the specifics behind the experience that led to "Pillowtalk." He said, "I don't want to be obviously too specific about what it's about. It is obviously quite personal to me." He would rather listeners figure it out for themselves, though. Read more and listen to the full interview here.
Set to a remixed version of Frankie Goes to Hollywood's song "Relax," the trailer shows Skrillex DJing a massive outdoor party while A$AP Rocky provides a few verses.
A$AP Rocky meanwhile has been busy contributing to other artists' music, it looks like he'll also be showing up on Kanye West's upcoming album Waves. The rapper's name appeared on a crib sheet Kanye wrote detailing the tracklist. West is also rumored to cameo in Zoolaner 2, small world. Watch the trailer here.
Although he was known for DJing with Funkmaster Flex in New York City at the legendary Tunnel nightclub and releasing an album, The Tunnel, on Def Jam in 1999, he was also a DJ for The Notorious B.I.G. early in the rapper's career.
My own memories of Big Kap go all the way back to a time before the Hip Hop world got to know him when he was just starting his career as a DJ, he and DJ Enuff were DJs for a party I used to promote. Sorry to see him go so soon.
Tributes from his fellow artists have filled social media. See some of them here.
Dobrev slinked her way around the stage playfully thrusting toward the crowd. She even got up close and personal with opponent Tim Tebow's leg. Tebow countered Dobrev's performance with a boxing-themed lip sync of Survivor's "Eye of the Tiger."
The football player's showing was considerably tamer than the actress' despite going heavy with props. Either way, both performances are worth checking out. Check out the preview clip here.
The story gets even better: Evelyn was at the show to celebrate her 89th birthday. Rocking leggings and a leather jacket, Evelyn looked right at home in the pit.
Memorably, Courteney Cox filled that role in the music video years before she appeared on Friends. Evelyn became that iconic "lucky fan" to join Springsteen as he sang the hit before an arena. Watch the video here.
"Dr Luke's lawsuit AGAINST ME, was dismissed by a judge today!!" she tweeted. "Truth is powerful stuff!!" To recap the issue: Kesha is seeking freedom from her existing record contract because it, in effect, will require her to collaborate with Lukasz 'Dr. Luke" Gottwald, who she has alleged has abused her.
Luke filed a counter suit disputing the claims, and also sued Sebert for defamation. On Wednesday Dr. Luke's suit against Ms. Sebert was dismissed by a New York Supreme Court justice Shirley Kornreich. However, she may not be out of the woods, as she faces a similar motion in Tennessee.
The next step will in this matter will be a ruling on Kesha's motion for a preliminary injunction so she can record without Dr. Luke, that decision is expected later this month, per the artist's Instagram account. See the post here.
