After growing up in the projects of New Orleans, Master P is no stranger to the dangerous life of a hustler. Having overcome various obstacles, he reached his dreams by selling millions of CDs and establishing his successful music label "No Limit." Master P is now on VH1 to implement his "work hard and never make excuses" philosophy to help others achieve their goals. "No Excuses", a 30 minute special airing Monday, October 26th at 10:30PM* on VH1, features Master P's intervention of Torrie Jackson a former gang banger in Los Angeles. Torrie won't step up, get a legitimate job and be a role model for his son as his excuses have held him back. His complaints of having no money, no car, and no way of getting to job interviews have led girlfriend Keisha to make a desperate plea to Master P for help. Keisha fears that Torrie's unemployment and lack of motivation will leave them broke and homeless. If Torrie can't get his act together, Keisha will be through with him for good. - more on this story
Seattle's King5 News shows that instead of reciting stereotypical rap tales of drug sales steeped in profanity and misogyny, D.Black presents an album that is profanity-free and spiritual. This was not always the case, as D.Black used to rhyme about these aforementioned topics early in his career. Following the birth of his daughter and his spiritual enlightenment, D.Black experienced a revelation to incorporate more positive messages into his art. Those messages are sprinkled throughout his new release Ali'Yah, the title of which alludes directly to the emcee's heightened inspiration and musical journey. Equipped with the support of his family, D.Black's new approach to music is being welcomed by the mainstream media. D.Black's new album, Ali'Yah, is available now via Sportn' Life Records/MYX Music Label.

Newly remastered under the watchful eyes of Bird himself, this significant album was produced by Mike Napolitano (Blind Melon, the Neville Brothers, and the Squirrel Nut Zippers) and is the last recording to feature Bird's backing band, Bowl of Fire, consisting of Kevin O'Donnell (drums and percussion), Nora O'Connor (backing vocals), Colin Bunn (guitar), and Josh Hirsh (bass). The Swimming Hour is considered a precursor to Bird's subsequent solo records. As a special addition to this vinyl package, the original CD album art has been reinterpreted by artist Jay Ryan, turning the photograph on the original cover into a pop art illustration. Ryan is the founder of the Skokie-based screenprint poster workshop, The Bird Machine, Inc.

"My music has a hint of Fergie, a hint of Britney, and a hint of Pink," explains Candi, raised at the Jersey Shore in Manahawkin, NJ. [hint: name drop pop stars to attract their fans?] "Fergie because of the rap element; Britney because of the sexy, fun, naughty element; Pink because of the rock element and the snarl and the raspiness that I sometimes have in my voice when I sing. I love Pink. She just says what she wants to say, and I love that about her. But I'm not trying to emulate any of them. I do my own thing, and I'm not trying to be anyone but myself." Candi's newly released debut album, ILLMissBehavin, is creating serious buzz, and with good reason -- in addition to penning some irresistibly catchy tunes, Candi offers a much-needed "girl-teen empowerment" spin on a genre in need of a positive female role model. In addition to her aforementioned musical influences, another important figure in Candi's life has been her mother and manager, successful Atlantic City nightclub owner Carrie Ariemma.
