In anticipation of the record's release, Landes is currently in the midst of a special series of U.S. shows, including a date as part of New York's CMJ Music Marathon on October 21 at the Bell House. Additionally, in January, Landes will joined acclaimed musician Justin Townes Earl on the road. More details will be announced shortly. Raised in Branson, MO and Louisville, KY, Landes currently lives in Brooklyn where she owns and operates her homemade recording studio Saltlands. "I actually built it!" Landes declares proudly, "Some friends and I put up the walls and floated the floors." It is here that Landes joined with longtime collaborator and drummer Ray Rizzo, multi-instrumentalist Josh Kaufman and bassist Annie Nero in making the 11-track album. Discerning dance music fans are often turned off by the term "big room." Yes, while big room is typically associated with more commercial cheesy sounds there are also some really interesting things going on. In NYC, for example, Mind Control (AKA Peter Bailey and Richie Santana) are opting to create an entire experience rather than merely drop the hottest bombs on a crowd. Sure, most fans would be happy to hear the biggest tracks, but that's too easy. This skilled team grabs the reins and operates the crowd with extended sets that gradually shift moods and directions. This isn't about "glorious synths" and "peak time bangers." It's about doing something interesting and cool - but for the masses.
The first broadcast of the new network property is this weekend, October 9-11. The Country's HotList is the creation of producer/host Shawn Parr and his Eleven 11 Productions group in Los Angeles. United Stations EVP/Programming, Andy Denemark made this announcement today at the company's Headquarters in New York City.
Based on a true character, and from the award winning horror writer/director Jake Kennedy (Days of Darkness), and Will Clevinger (producer of the indie horror hit Automaton Transfusion), PENANCE stars Marieh Delfino (Jeepers Creepers 2) as a stripper who falls into the hands of sadistic surgeon (Graham McTavish) with genital mutilation on his mind. Previously titled The Devil's Dungeon and filmed in 2008 in Los Angeles, PENANCE is the tale of a young, demure single mother, Amelia (Delfino), who hits upon hard times and decides to take her future into her own hands and becomes a stripper. Everything is going well until Suzy, her stripper friend, is beaten up on a job and recruits Amelia to take her place. Reluctantly, Amelia takes the job, only to find the job isn't everything it seems. Driven to a strange location by a dark and mysterious man (Tony Todd), and confronted by a grizzled hit man (Michael Rooker), Amelia's world is turned upside down, as her captor (the mind bending McTavish), is intent on one thing and one thing only - to purify Amelia and the other women in his incarceration.
