Pink Floyd had set the previous record of 56,134 in 1994 during The Division Bell tour but Chesney topped the record by over a thousand with 57,368 attending his show on Saturday night.
He had the following to set about breaking the record, "I had no idea about the number when we took the stage. "ink Floyd are rock icons. Every kid's high school experience I never ever would've thought something like that could happen.
"We've been coming to Kansas City for years, and they've always been really loud audiences. But when we hit the stage, it felt like all those years, all those shows were added up into one - and that was what we were being hit with."
Chesney also shared these thoughts about the concert, "I could hear the cheers when the intro film was running. It was so loud, I could barely hear the music - and from the very first second I was out there singing, the audience was electric! It felt like being at the bottom of a mountain, and an avalanche just kept rolling over you. The energy, the heart, the passion had that much force and it didn't let up - not once all night."
He then shared one of his highlights from the show, "Kansas City took 'American Kids' to a whole other place. They made it their own. But they took over a bunch of the songs - and it was awesome. When you've played somewhere for several years, and the passion grows, that's what you're trying to create. It's the best part of what we do up here. And man, Kansas City just leveled me. Every show we've ever played, all the way back, they hit us."
Chesney still has several stadiums to visit on the tour including Denver's Sports Authority Stadium at Mile High Aug. 8, E. Rutherford, NJ's Met Life Stadium Aug. 15, Detroit's Ford Field Aug. 22 and a double at Foxboro's Gillette Stadium Aug. 28-29.

Now, a new biography about Alice in Chains' deceased frontman Layne Staley again raises questions, with the spin now being that the doubts about Cobain's suicide came from his wife, Courtney Love. This is interesting because conspiracy theories have long claimed Love responsible for Cobain's death, but this new account presents a third option, where Cobain neither committed suicide nor was the victim of a Courtney Love plot. (via Stereogum)
In the book Alice in Chains: The Untold Story, Love allegedly called Staley's stepfather in an attempt to contact Staley, wanting to get to the bottom of how Cobain spent his final few days, apparently not convinced that the suicide was plausible from the Nirvana leader. Read more here.
Will Smith posted the following to his Facebook page: "Under normal circumstances, I don't usually respond to foolishness. (Because it's contagious) But, so many people have extended me their "deepest condolences" that I figured - "What the hell I can be foolish, too!"

When Meek Mill's conflict with Drake began to pick up, many rap fans hoped they'd hear Mill rap in his earlier, more aggressive style, i.e. the battle rapping "fuzzy braid" Meek Mill. But in the court of public opinion, Meek's diss track, "Wanna Know," fell short of expectations, and Drake has, at least as of now, been unofficially declared the winner.
It will be interesting to see what else Drake has up his sleeve as he closes out OVO fest in his hometown tonight. He already brought Philly legend Will Smith to the event last night. Now he's openly mocking his rival. Is a another diss track next? Read more and see photo and video here.

The Atlanta rap star left the comment under another Instagram account which was asking its audience the question of if they felt it was right for Ciara to bring her child around another man so soon. T.I. commented, "I'd go the F*** off bro. S*** outta line to me'but that's just me."
The tensions between Ciara and Future have been rather public since Future began talking about Ciara during the promotional cycle for his album DS2. A photo of young, 12-month old Future Zahir at Seahawks practice started the firestorm as he was pictured hugging Wilson. Seattle Times' photographer Lindsay Wasson inadvertently jump-started the dialog with the photo here.

Although Keef has released three mixtapes in the last year, it's been almost two years since Keef released Bang 2, as Billboard points out. Keef recently kicked up some dust when he proclaimed he'd take a run for Chicago mayor.
Keef's announcement appeared to be a reaction to the canceling of his hologram-powered concert which was shut down by the city of Chicago. Listen to the mix tape here.

They'll present two live online masterclasses next month, with producer and bassist Getgood working up tracks laid down by drummer Halpern, just the way they did it for January's twin releases Juggernaut: Alpha and Juggernaut: Omega.
Halpern - who wants people to listen to his band's music before focusing on any individual parts - says: "I get a lot of questions about how to record drums, how to make them sound good, how to set them up, what microphones to use.
"The truth is I don't really know much about recording. But I do know someone who does - so I'm teaming up with Mr. Adam 'Nolly' Getgood so that we can give you the techniques to do this at home."
Getgood adds: "We're going to track drums live in the studio and I'm going to be using all the techniques I used to capture Matt's performances. We're going to be doing drum selection, head selection, microphone selection, microphone placement, drum tuning - basically everything that goes into capturing the turns and nuances of Matt's performances." The significance of Fork in the Road is to clue you in on a change and a choice happening. My sound was always more brash and aggressive. While I maintain that intensity, I'm channeling it into something with more message and substance. Also, when I wrote it, subconsciously I was venting that I was ready for a change, ready to maybe move out of my city and live somewhere else.
The lyrics from the chorus "I know that I might not be sure where to go, or where I'm tying to go, how I'll get there or ever how long I'll be gone" make so much sense to me as a person, but I wasn't really aware of that until I listened to the song and thought, "Wow, this is not just a song, I really feel this way". So the song is basically showing you that this is where the change has occurred and also telling people not to be afraid of change.
Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, check out the video here and learn more right here!
