Note: The Top 5 List will now be posted between the 20th and 25th of each month, instead of the 1st. antiGUY gives his top 5 list of music stuff. Could be songs, people, a stupid trend... nothing is sacred to antiGUY
A couple of months ago I ran a Top 5 derived from readers posts on one of our message boards. That worked out so well I thought we'd try it again. This time around I asked our regular readers which artists they think have outstayed their welcome and should retire. Read on for their responses. While, my list would have been a little different, it seems a lot of our readers agree on certain artists. If you have someone you'd like to add to the list or disagree with one of the artists listed below then post your response in the Fan Speak section. Until next time, here is this month's Top 5 - aG Top 5 Artists who should retire already! 5) "KISS- Too bad Gene Simmons isn't IN those KISS koffins." CrazyBumFungus They keep saying they are retiring but every few weeks we hear news of a new KISS product or the band playing some special show, or being paid to play a private party. Growing up, KISS was one of my favorite groups (this was after the makeup came off) and I always dreamed of the day they would do a reunion and put the makeup back on. That day did come and it was great to see the old KISS magic live but instead of doing the reunion tour and going out in a blaze of glory the band decided to put out a sub par studio album, launch a zillion marketing schemes and release one greatest hits type package after the other. What respect I had for Gene and Paul went out the window as I watched them grasp at every dollar available. I always thought the music stood on it's own, but the KISS of today is but a pale shadow of their former selves who are obviously in it for one reason only, to make money off of the fans. 4) "Missy Elliot, nuff said."

3)"Backstreet Boys - no longer even remotely resembling "boys" and looking quite frightening I really think it is time guys to give it a rest (all solo careers by former BSB members should also be stopped dead in their tracks)" smicdivvy No need to expand on that, smicdivvy nailed that one perfectly! 2) "The Rolling Stones!? they should have stopped like 25 years ago! " Maxpower324 While many suggested the Stones, Maxpower324 said it best! Here is a legendary band that has setout and succeeded in destroying their legacy with every new tour and album that fails to even remotely measure up to their glory days. When Spin Magazine did their 50 Greatest Bands of All time the Stones landed at a dismal #9. In commenting on why they landed so far down the list, then the expected top 5 spot, Spin said "There was a time -- most of us weren't there -- when it made perfect sense to call the Rolling Stones The World's Greatest Rock'n'Roll Band' (and if they'd dropped a good album in the past 20 years of trying, they'd be much higher on this list)." I will point out that Spin is full of s*** a lot of the time especially their current Top 40 Artists in Music Today where they name Jay-Z as No. 1 and others like Missy Eliot, OutKast, P.O.D, Sum-41 and Basement Jaxx are in the Top 20. Scary stuff going on over at Spin but they nailed the reason the Stones popularity has sagged. And the number one artist who should retire is Aerosmith Too Submissions Many
To List!
Honorable or dishonorable mentions who didn't make the final list: From smicdivvy Metallica - Have become an embarrassment to the world of rock and metal. Cher - The "alternative lifestlye" community will be disappointed but really I think it is time. Paul McCartney - I really hate to say it but his performance at the Oscars really put it over the edge - when Great becomes Mediocre it is sad From LithiumBliss
