Punk Hybrid Album of the Year (punk-pop, punk-a-billy etc) White Stripes "Elephant"
- antiGUY
I hate this term; it gets on my nerves. I hate my local "modern rock station" and the crappy bands they keep bringing to the casinos out here: 3 Doors Down, Puddle of Mudd, Fuel, Blow-Up. Anyway, my pick is "Elephant" by the White Stripes. The band sucked until Jack White got over it and started playing bass. Now they're incredible. Listen to any song with bass in it. Dan Grote Our

The Mars Volta- "De-Loused in the Comatorium"
 Dan Grote
A grab bag of all the good stuff and then some! - antiGUY Nothing else this year rocked as hard, or as strange, as this CD. Powerful. Tribal and maddeningly eclectic, Comatorium takes hardcore into the 21st Century with intelligence, grace and the sense of daring so often missing from most modern bands. Tim Byrnes Fans of now defunct intelli-screamo band At the Drive-In had their minds blown by this album-long suicide tale set to free jazz, Afro-Cuban rhythms and two afroed geniuses. Listen to "Eriatarka" and "Cicatriz Esp." Dan Grote ATDI broke up for a good reason and thank God they did! -Scott Slapp Our

The All American Rejects "The All American Rejects" Scott Slapp I hate pop-punk but I loved this album because it was done right. - antiGUY The secret of the musical success for the All American Rejects is their mix of two distinct forms of music; "good" modern pop-punk like Jimmy Eat World and 80's era alternative like The Smiths or The Cure. Keavin Our
