Leipers Fork, a tiny village adjacent to Franklin and about half an hour out of Nashville, has been a very important place for Hippies and Cowboys. It was in Leipers Fork at the food and live music venue Fox & Locke that the guys have been making a big impression on fans who come there especially to get turned on to new and developing acts. It's also where Wilson first was wowed by the band. All the excitement has led to regular return engagements at Fox & Locke where Hippies and Cowboys also recorded a live album; their next appearance at the venue will be Saturday, May 18, 2024. And they'll have new music to perform that day; their latest single, "Circle Back Around," drops just the day before. Featuring an extremely catchy chorus and a soulful, laid back vocal from singer Aaron Sparling, the song has a vibe that reminds of many Tom Petty hits, or even farther back than that, the cool California sound of The Byrds. (Listen to the cut below) The band is also working on a new EP that'll feature original songs and a couple of covers.
Hippies and Cowboys have tour dates on tap through at least late September including a show with Blackberry Smoke on May 17, a show with Atlanta Rhythm Section on June 14, two shows at the Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion in mid-September and an appearance at the Pilgrimage Festival in Franklin Sept. 22.
