Austria Wants to Know 'What's Your Sign?'

What's your sign? It might sound like a cheesy pickup line but in this case it's a question being asked in all seriousness by one of Europe's most desirable travel destinations, Austria. There is so much to see and do in Austria that the folks at Austria Info, the nation's official travel portal, thought it would be fun to recommend attractions based on what zodiac sign the attraction most resembles. Of course every attraction in Austria can be enjoyed by everyone, but just for kicks, here's what they came up with.

For Earth Signs: Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn

Taurus (April 20 - May 20): With a love for beauty and comfort, Taurus would appreciate the classical charm of Salzburg, Mozart's birthplace, with its baroque architecture and scenic views, history at every step and world class hotels; or the peaceful and beautiful settings of the Bregenzerwald, ideal for relaxing in nature and enjoying fine dining at local inns that serve fresh, local cuisine.

Virgo (August 23 - September 22): Methodical and detail-oriented, Virgos would enjoy a visit to Innsbruck with its well-preserved medieval Old Town and easily accessible hiking trails (or slopes) right from the city center. Virgos will also be drawn to the sheer beauty of Alpbach, often called Austria's most beautiful village, with its uniform wooden buildings, meticulously groomed flower boxes, and stunning Alpine setting.

Capricorn (December 22 - January 19): Practical and traditional, Capricorns might appreciate the historical significance and architectural splendor of Melk Abbey, a Benedictine abbey perched above the Danube River. Capricorns would also feel right at home in Graz, Austria's second-largest city, with its beautiful historical center that is a colorful smorgasbord of different influences - from Medieval to Renaissance to Baroque to Art Deco. Add to that modern art and a vibrant culinary scene - Graz is a city to explore and enjoy!

For Fire Signs: Aries, Leo and Sagittarius

Aries (March 21 - April 19): Adventurous and energetic, Aries might enjoy the excitement of Kitzbuel during the ski season, offering both challenging slopes and vibrant apre-ski life. Aries would also thrive in Zell am See for skiing, mountain biking, and watersports on the lake, offering plenty of action and challenges between the town, the mountains, the lake, and the glacier.

Leo (July 23 - August 22): Leos love the spotlight and luxury, making the imperial history and grandeur of Vienna an ideal setting for them to explore palaces and fancy restaurants. The dramatic and regal side of the Leo would appreciate the historic charm of Hohenwerfen Castle near Salzburg, which hosts falconry demonstrations and medieval banquets.

Sagittarius (November 22 - December 21): Free-spirited Sagittarians should explore the diverse landscapes of Tirol. Majestic snowcapped peaks, quaint valleys, glittering mountain lakes and mighty glaciers create a unique landscape, dotted with historical towns famous for their traditional customs and cultural celebrations. Sagittarians may particularly enjoy the dynamic nature of Solden, known for its extensive ski areas as well as great hiking and biking offerings in the summer.

For Air Signs: Gemini, Libra and Aquarius

Gemini (May 21 - June 20): Curious and always seeking variety, Geminis would enjoy Bad Ischl, an imperial town known for its rich history and cultural events, and in 2024 proudly presenting as the European Capital of Culture under the motto "Culture is the new salt". Geminis would also appreciate the lively and intellectually stimulating environment of Lech, a resort town in the Arlberg region that combines high-class skiing with cultural events like philosophical talks and music festivals.

Libra (September 23 - October 22): Libras seek harmony and aesthetics, and they might find it in the elegant and culturally rich city of Vienna (and meet your Leo friends there), with its art museums, beautiful parks, and classical concerts. With their love for beauty and socializing, Libras would enjoy the elegance and artistic atmosphere of Krems, nestled in the Wachau Valley, with its beautiful vineyards and art galleries.

For Water Signs: Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces

Pisces (February 19 - March 20): Imaginative and mystical, Pisces might find inspiration in the dreamy landscapes of the Wachau Valley, famous for its vineyards, apricot orchards, and romantic ruins. Pisces would also find peace and inspiration in the picturesque and yet dramatic setting of the Krimml Waterfallsjust outside of Salzburg that offer a wealth of health benefits.
