Scandura sings these songs with a voice that has an eerie vibe to it, a little like Peter Murphy of Bauhaus fame. Scandura had his hands full, as he plays all the album's instrumentation. Lyrically, Beyond Beyond is also intellectually heavy stuff. Its explanation begins, "In a microcosmic flash, we are born. Before the light falls, we return the eternal nebulous mist from which we were formed." Therefore, this is not just simple rock & roll songs about love, sex and all that stuff. Instead, with a science fiction writer's attention to detail, Scandura delves into the meaning of existence, lyrically. Like many scientists, Scandura likely has little room for god in his overall explanation. In fact, one song is even titled "In Atheist Fashion."
Beyond Beyond is not an album that you'll likely digest in just one listen. No, this one will require a little work and a lot of focused attention. If you give it a chance, though, experiencing this album will be a fully rewarding endeavor.
