Kona Kai Resort & Spa 60th Anniversary Package
It sounds like Hawaii but the Kona Kai Resort & Spa is located on the mainland, on beautiful Shelter Island in San Diego. The resort has just undergone a massive expansion and makeover, in essence giving the legendary property a new beginning. Guests will find 41 new luxurious suites on offer, each with an oversized balcony and plush bathroom, and some even have gas fireplaces. All have phenomenal views of either San Diego Bay or Point Loma Hillside.
Many famous guests have marveled at the delights of Kona Kai Resort & Spa since its 1959 opening, and it was a favorite getaway for Hollywood stars like Clark Gable, Burt Lancaster and Dick Van Dyke. Guests that book two nights or more can take advantage of various 60th anniversary packages and special offers, including the 60th Anniversary Stay Package that comes with two specialty Tiki cocktails served in keepsake Tiki glasses, a complimentary pool or beach cabana and a Sun Bum sunscreen kit. Guests will also get a $60 resort credit that can be put towards brunch at Vessel (with bottomless mimosas and live music on Sat. and Sun.), signature cocktails at the pool or bar, stand-up paddle boarding, massages and more.
The menu at Vessel is also honoring the anniversary by featuring items that were popular back in 1959, including a wonderful Boeuf Bourguignon (Mondays only) and pineapple upside down cake served with coconut ice cream. Special cocktails include the house take on a mai tai called the 60th Anniversary Kona Tai, and the resort's special tequila drinks Konarita (margarita) and Marina Sunset (tequila sunrise). On Friday nights Kona Kai will be screening movies from 1959, and guests celebrating their 60th birthday during their stay will receive a surprise gift. And if you want to bring the whole crew with you, you can actually rent out the whole resort!
