The first is "Angeline," which imagines the protagonist obsessed with a girl named Angeline. "All I think about is you," he states emphatically. He wonders if she's seen him in some unusual places, ranging from looking out of a magazine cover, to watching while he's on a trampoline to viewing her from a submarine under the sea. It's a love song, yes, but it's also a tad overly obsessive and a little melancholy.
"Head Up in the Clouds" is a ballad backed by a finger picked guitar. With this one, Frisch sings of how it's taken his whole life just to figure out what he wanted. But it's this realization that ultimately gives him true purpose in life.
With "I Can't Sing with A Broken Heart," asks the difficult question: Do you love me, or do you love him? Like "Angeline," this is a song about obsession - only he's obsessed with knowing whether a girl loves him or not.
Sure, these are highly personal songs. But they're sung with such sincerity, which makes them ring true.
