Based in Zurich, Switzerland, van Horsten mixes synthesizer music with sometimes opera-like vocals and even spoken word sections, to create music that reacts to the pain and suffering loved ones go through whenever somebody near and dear takes his/her life.
While many of these tracks are the loud, in-your-face variety, one of the last ones, "A Healing Moment," quiets everything down significantly. Built upon mournful acoustic piano, it plays out like an elegy. But then again, losing a loved one summons a wide range of emotions, many of which are expressed throughout this many times gripping album. This ain't no sci-fi fantasy; it's reality.
