The 12 songs on this project all chug along nicely, sometimes jangling in a Byrds-y way, and other times reaching straight to the heart of the heartland, which makes perfectly sense since Garry Talent and Max Weinberg, both of the famed E Street band, contribute.
Allen is at his jangle best during "Think A Little Louder," for a song that sounds straight out of 70s AOR radio. Allen sings it with sincere passion. Next, he has the audacity to cover the Beatles' "She Said She Said," but also with the talent to pull it off.
With a Beatles cover, and one song written about Brian Jones (called "Brian Jones"), this rock 'n' romantic has his heart and head in exactly the right place.
