December Rose is a native of Montreal, Quebec and the classically-trained singer and pianist has previously scored a club hit with "Came Here to Party," a dance-oriented number that got her name out on a worldwide basis. "Ball Game" on the other hand is not clubby; the song is an orchestrated showcase for Rose's piano playing and vocal styling, a sing-along pop number that, with its tale of a two-timing cad, (actually four-timing!) also stirs up empathy in the listener. While it's not apparent just by listening to the song, a video has been made for "Ball Game" that shows how the cheater gets what's coming to him at song's end.
December Rose has some serious music business power behind her; she's signed to Invitation Records, an imprint co-founded by Russ Regan, famed for launching the careers of stars like Elton John, Neil Diamond and Olivia Newton-John back when he ran Uni Records. With that to back up her writing talents and clear-as-a-bell vocal sound there's little doubt that indeed it is a whole new ball game.
The finishing touches are currently being put on December Rose's debut full-length album, expected later this year.
