Unfathomed of Abyss - Arisen Upon Oblivion
This project is described as an "apocalyptic symphonic black metal album," which provides "an imaginative view into the cosmos." Although it's a quite difficult to make out the words, unless you're already well versed in this musical style, it's nevertheless easy to appreciate the time and effort that went into creating this multi-layered piece of music. For instance, "To Unequal the Balance of the Cosmos" is a unique combination of foreboding, cinematic orchestral music with hard driving, hard rock featuring screamed vocals. It's as though one man is fighting to move across the universe, even though the universe (represented by the orchestral portions) is holding him back with deliberate stubbornness.
This is not 'party till you puke' heavy metal. It is obviously serious music that takes active listening to fully appreciate.
