Sister Speak - Rise Up For Love
Many of the songs on Rise Up For Love are said to be inspired by Anne's recent recuperation from a significant pelvis break. Being laid up like that can certainly slow a person down. However, it can also be a blessing in disguise as it grants talented people the clean break, if you will, from many routine activities so that almost all focus can be directed at artistic pursuits , such as writing.
What's resulted is a strong, folk-influenced pop album. "Lady Love," for instance, nicely combines mainly acoustic instrumentation with lovely vocal harmonies for a pretty tune. At its most intense, as during "Mirror (I)," Sister Speak can come off a little like Fleetwood Mac during its 70s heyday.
Sister Speak is a fitting name for this outfit because Rise Up For Love is notable for its musical outspokenness.
