James Brown - Get On Up Original Motion Picture Soundtrack
The really big hits are included in their original form; "Get up Offa that Thing," "Papa's Got a Brand New Bag, Pt. 1," "Say it Loud - I'm Black and I'm Proud Pt. 1," "Please, Please, Please," "Get up (I Feel Like Being a Sex Machine)" and "I Got You (I Feel Good)" are here in all their funky splendor.
But Brown completists will want to note that there are two previously unreleased cuts here although both are live versions of familiar songs ("Please, Please, Please" and "It's a Man's Man's Man's World".)
Other songs presented in live versions here include "Soul Power," "Try Me," "Super Bad," "Night Train," "I Got the Feeling" and "I Can't Stand Myself (When You Touch Me)." A couple of less famous late-'60s nuggets, "Cold Sweat, Part 1" and "Mother Popcorn, Pt. 1" round out this stellar compilation.
The music presented here has been beloved for a long time but those who just got a good listen to Brown for the first time thanks to Get on Up would be well advised to use this soundtrack as a starting point to go back and build a library of some of the hottest funk ever recorded.
