I understand they did the most recent Download Festival and not only performed full live sets, but also added acoustic sets at the Camden Rocks gigs they did. The feedback on these guys is pretty good so far. So I was given the opportunity to preview their new album before it hits the street the last week of this month.
Colt 45 is a hard working band with a very strong effort on this fledgling effort. You will hear nuances from Blink 182 and Green Day to the Foo Fighters on this album. These guys are riff masters and you will get a good dose of how good they are when you get into the meat of this album. Songs like, "I Thought I Knew Best," "I Remember When The Rain Came Down" and "The Simple Things Are Working" are all great examples of the talent this trio possesses.
Personal favorites of mine are "Time Will Tell" and "Salt Water" as they exemplify the range of lead vocalist and lead guitarists' Neil Harper's vocals. To round off the trio, we have Gareth Jenkins on Bass and Adam Lewis on the drums, respectively.
As Colt 45 is getting ready to release their debut album, The Tide Is Turning on the Visible Noise label next Tuesday July 28th, they are hitting the road on Lollapalooza and the Kendall Calling this summer. Defiantly go see these guys if you get the opportunity. From the looks of it you will probably get that opportunity
I'm gonna give this effort 3 out of 5 stars on Hardcore scale. If you like that moody type of alt punk you will dig this record. Remember, rock n roll is like a cockroach..You can put it in the microwave for 10 minutes and it won't dieLong live rock!
