Joshua Warden - Always This
![]()
Musically, Warden's vocalizations are always gentle and easy on the ears. They're rooted in R&B, but certainly not churchy soul or Saturday night funk. Instead, for instance, finger snap-like percussion drives the keyboard melody of "Like a Rose," whereas a somber electric piano groove leads "The Turning Quiet."
While Warden has the voice that could woo the clothes off a church-going-girl-next-door, he chooses to sing more philosophical songs, instead. To that point, "The Line" speaks about how "There is no right way/There is no wrong way." It even features a rap section, making this track the most modern sounding track on the album.
At times, Warden comes off as a slightly more sinister Sting. He's not really a sinister guy, though. He's one sexy vocalist, and he just can't help it.
