Last Time consists of 11 fierce tracks with Ean playing all the guitars and Bobby on lead vocals and keyboards. They had a few friends contribute on drums, base and such. The music they contrived is a hard rock southern influenced sound with Eans heavy riffs bringing you right to the border of metal and rock. In fact it's been said that Ean liked to describe it as southern alternative metal. All the tunes on here are better than average with really no fillers, there are 1 or 2 slower songs that change the pace up a bit but they fit right in seamlessly. My favorite song on the disc is the 9th tune called "Mississippi." It has a dark scary feel, the lyrics aren't dark or scary but just the music in general, makes me think of the movie Deliverance.
All in all I really enjoyed this disc but unfortunately the album's name turned out to be truer than anyone imagined. In 2008 Ean was diagnosed with an aggressive type of cancer and in May 2009 just days before the rerelease of Last Time Ean passed away. Here's a small message from Bobby Capps on Evanscapps myspace page:
For all who have asked, I am deeply saddened to confirm rumors that my friend and brother Ean is now resting in heaven with his maker. He will be missed by family, friends and fans. Anyone who knew Ean on a personal level, knew him for his humble approach and genuine southern mannerisms. He was, and always will be, known on a professional level as, not only a great bass player but, a great guitar player, singer, songwriter, and producer. We did a great thing together with this CD and I intend to keep his spirit alive by preaching his music for a long time to come. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers. RIP EAN!! I love you brother!!! - Bobby Capps
