Quick Step John - The Multiple Personalities of Last Week and Next Year Review

by J Simpson

.
Quick Step John is a 4 pieces indie rock band straight out of Philadelphia, Pa. After a 3 song demo that caught the attention of some music execs the band found themselves supporting acts like Gavin DeGraw, Mason Jennings and Angie Aparo. Then in 2003 the music gods would shine on them again when they were selected to fill in for Maroon 5 for a one night concert supporting Matchbox 20 and Sugar Ray. The following year the members stuck their nose to the grindstone and released a debut E.P. called 'The Life In Our Year's and although the disc didn't earn any Grammys, it held their fans and helped the band discover and nurture their own sound.

On October 2nd 2007 Quick Step John has released their debut album 'The Multiple Personalities of Last Week and Next Year.' The 10 original songs on the disc make up a collection of alluring moody rock with pleasing melodies and soft appealing tempo's. None of the tunes can be labeled as great or groundbreaking but they hold their own in the world of mellow soothing rock music. In all honesty this isn't a disc that you'd crank up Friday night getting ready to go out and get wild. This is the music you put on the next morning to chill out and try to remember if you had a good time last night or not and exactly where you left your car.
