The surprising revelation came when Brown was asked how he thought Houston was most misunderstood. "I don't think she died from drugs," Brown said. "No, not at all."
Brown was vague when asked what he thought took the singer's life: "She was really working hard on herself to try to be a sober person and, um [pauses] she was a great woman."
Brown went on to bicker with his wife/manager, Alicia Etheredge-Brown, over whether or not drugs were present in Houston's body at the time of her death. He eventually conceded that drugs "played a part" in the singer's passing.
When asked again what he thought killed Whitney Houston, Brown had a definitive answer: "Just being broken-hearted."Read more

The singer joked that she never thought of being called 'the book lady," joking that she might have been called 'the painted lady." Parton read and sang the words from her autobiographical children's book, Coat of Many Colors, to a group of children at the celebration.

'I love how so many women are standing up for what's right," Trainor said in a press statement about the new track. 'I wanted to write us all a powerful anthem. Sometimes, people talk down to me, because I've only been doing this for four years, so I wrote this song. It's my modern version of 'R-E-S-P-E-C-T.' It's all about equality and being kind."
The sparkly new tune is Trainor's first new song since she dropped "I'm a Lady" for the Smurfs: The Lost Village soundtrack early last year. The pop singer is gearing up for a big 2018, promising more new music "very soon." Watch the video

Ruston Kelly had introduced me to Ward Guenther at a writing session, and I really loved what the three of us had come up with -- a song called "If I Only Knew" about the ability to predict the day of your death. (Might be the only song that has Stonehenge, pyramids, and Goodyear Blimp in the lyrics.)
We three set up another appointment and at the last minute Ruston canceled, so instead of meeting at Music Row, Ward came over to my house because we both lived really close to each other in East Nashville on Eastside Avenue. He had an idea to write a song about how loving someone can be like a drug that you are addicted to. I joked, "Like Kesha's 'Your Love is My Drug'?" He obviously had not yet heard that track.
I said I wanted to write a song where the verse and chorus are the same chords and only the melody changes. He wrote, "Your touch is the needle dropping down on the vinyl on the first side of the record," and then we went with a couple of metaphors about needles.
I played it like that for a year or so with my band Truth & Salvage Co., and then I finally sat down with Leroy and he challenged me and said it wasn't good enough and made the second verse the first: "This heart is like a pair of beat-up blue jeans," which is way easier to hear than the other way. And also, "Faded, but I can't give 'em up." Leroy knows his jeans! Furthermore, he had a nice addition for the second half of the chorus, "Won't you stay, don't make me live without, what I need right now, keep giving all your love to me." I couldn't figure out what was wrong with it before that. Fortunately, Leroy will be the first guy to let you know!
Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album

Supported by a band and two backup singers, Kelly performed the Meaning of Life deep cut--which has not yet been released as a single. On Meyers' couch, Kelly talked about her role on The Voice and said Blake Shelton is her strongest competition: "I do go in on Blake a lot. But he's kind of a giant target," Clarkson said. 'I'm kind of annoyingly competitive."
Kelly also described her whirlwind experience at the Golden Globes. She met Steve Carrell, who famously shouted her name during the chest-waxing scene in The 40-Year-Old Virgin. Behind the scenes, Clarkson says the funnyman is just as nice as he seems. She also recalled meeting Meryl Streep during a red carpet moment that went viral. Watch Kelly charm the Late Night audience
