Perusing the lyrics to the second single from her forthcoming album, Reputation, it's apparent that someone is being hung out to dry, while someone else is being championed as the man of her dreams.
Lines such as "Some, Some boys are trying too hard/He don't try at all though /Younger than my exes but he acts like such a man, so," can very easily be taken as a reference to Swift's current boyfriend, Joe Alwyn, who at 26 is younger than her two previous guys, Calvin Harris (33) and Tom Hiddleston (36).
Taken in another way, however, and the song could be Swift reminiscing about her time with One Direction's Harry Styles. At 26, Styles qualifies as not only "Younger than my exes," but younger than Swift herself, who is 27.
When Swift sings, "First time that I saw him/Wonder how many girls he had loved and left haunted/But if he's a ghost then I can be a phantom," it could easily be taken as a reference to Styles. His single, "Two Ghosts," which was construed by many as being about Swift. Read more

The melody for "Dance into the Party" came to me early on. Initially, my concept for the lyrics was going to be much more colorful and imaginative. However, this changed when I had a reaction to a couple of situations that happened to come back-to-back. The first one was when I was in a dance class with two old friends who had just come back from their first year of conservatory training. I was really happy to see them, reunite with my old company dancers. However, before class started, they were making fun of they way I speak and dress. I have always had a certain style and vibe, and they certainly saw it develop over the years. During that afternoon in class, they observed that a year in intense training didn't necessarily make them better than I am. I put so much soul of into my dance (and everything I do) that, although they might be technically stronger, their presentation isn't. After class, they wouldn't talk to me at all. I have since been in touch with them. I never hold grudges, but it was one of the inspirations for this song's lyrics. The other situation that inspired the lyrics happened in school. This guy, who had been a friend, was being so rude to me. He was acting as if he hated me, but, at the same time, he was following my every move on social media, reading all my snap stories and asking all my friends about me.
This song is about letting go of people's views, and owning every situation in life that we find ourselves in - we should always dance into the party.
This was a last minute decision regarding the lyrics, but I'm happy that the words went in that direction. It is an educational message, but also cool and relatable to many. That's what I wanted to come out with.

Fans will recall the hitmaker's 1995 single "Scream" which featured his sister Janet and spawned the world's most expensive music video. It's not clear whether the new Scream project is related to the 1995 track.
Stereogum discovered that Twitter users in Germany had shared images of Scream posters, which clearly describe the project as an "album." Devoted Michael Jackson fans may have another deep dive into the archive coming their way in a few weeks. For now, it's a bit of a mystery. Examine the evidence
