Four episodes of the second season of the runaway hit series are already completed and the show is set to return to the airwaves next month giving the world a fisheye view of the going-ons in the Osbourne household.
Things are bound to have changed for the family since the first season of the show made Ozzy, Sharon, Jack and Kelly media darlings. But we can expect plenty of bleeping interplay between the family as well as coverage of Sharons fight with cancer.
MTV executives originally planned a fall back date in January for the second season to begin because of Sharons cancer fight but it appears the November date is a go.
According to the E! report MTV and the Osbourne family felt it was important to keep the initial November premier date so that the large collection of Osbournes related merchandise that ties into the show would be some of the hot items for shoppers this holiday season. Wonder if Gene Simmons is acting as a consultant to the family on how best to cash in on the hype and success of the MTV series?
Understandable, there has been a bit of a backlash from longtime Ozzy Osbourne fans since Ozzy and his former group Black Sabbath are thought of as the Godfathers of heavy metal, the mainstream success of Ozzy and the avalanche of coverage from publications like People magazine have some fans scratching their heads wondering what happened to the madman of metal and where this bumbling sitcom star came from? Indeed, much of the mystique that Ozzy once held is gone as we now have an Ozzy who jokes with the President and performs for the Queen of England instead of the crazy madman who bites the heads off of creatures and goes out drinking in his wifes dress and gets arrested for urinating on the Alamo. Some fans question whether Ozzy has become something of a joke to mainstream society and the biggest looming puzzle is whether the people who know Ozzy only from the MTV series and not his music are laughing with him or at him?
