Now almost a year later with two US and one European tour under their belt with Lombardo behind the drums Slayer has officially rehired Lombardo as their drummer. At this point there are no solid plans for recording the next album, but Lombardo will be in the studio with the band when they begin recording their next album. Word has it that Rick Rubin is the most likely producer for the next Slayer album.
While he waits for work to begin on the next Slayer album, Lombardo will have plenty to keep him busy. He will return to the studio with Mike Patton in December to record the next Fantomas album. That album will feature one 20-part song, if the current plans hold firm.
Lombardo also have most of his first solo album recorded, which he hopes to release next year. That albums music will focus on Lombardos solo percussion compositions.
When we have more news on the next Slayer album we will be sure to update you.
