Courtney Love has 109 unreleased songs by her late husband Kurt Cobain according to a report by Rolling Stones Chris Heath.
"I have a buttload of material," Rolling Stone Online quotes the controversial Courtney Love as describing the 109 bits of unreleased music she has recorded by her late husband.
"I have the holy grail of rock & roll. That's the story," says Love "But not all of it's great. Some of it's fragments." She warns that there are only five to eight acoustic tracks that she thinks are good enough for release "There's some stuff that's not very melodic that I'm not fond of, but, hey, if you're a fan of [Radiohead's] Kid A, it might be really great.
Loves says that the tapes contain everything from s****ty collages to some pretty stunning, awe-inspiring acoustic songs to stupid, f***ed-up s****. She went on to say that included in the unreleased material are The songs began at our home, usually in a closet or in his room, and I have everything from stuff you've already heard in demo form to gasp-out-loud acoustic songs to things he's playing with Patty [Schemel, Hole's drummer] and Eric [Erlandson, Hole's guitarist] to things he's playing with the f***ing heroin dealer to collages."
Rolling Stone clarifies the drug dealer comment by explaining that Kurt would take a four track with him when he went to score dope with a friend of his and then check into a motel room next to the one the dealer was in and record music with a musician friend of his. "Pretty much, Kurt was not a loser when it came to songwriting, you know," says Love of the unreleased material.
Love told Rolling Stones Chris Heath that the tapes include a song called Stinking of You," that she wrote with Kurt on the same night he wrote the Hole B side "20 Years in the Dakota." It's really cute and Breeder-y," Love said before humming the riff and singing some of the lyrics to the reporter that included lines like "I'm stinking of you . . . I don't care if my life is shattered, it's my point of view . . ." She told Heath that she wrote the "stinking of you" bit ("that dumb little line") and he wrote the "life is shattered" verses ("the more sophisticated, better part").
Love is currently in a legal battle with former Nirvana members Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic over the ownership of the unreleased Nirvana material. This legal battled has halted the release of the Nirvana boxset, which was to include some rare demos and unreleased material. The case is set to reach the courtroom in September.
In her continued Hate/Hate relationship
with the press, Holemusic.com, The website for Courtneys band has a special

hackers and misattribution of the website in the past. We could provide
