p.diddy and the Stairway to Harlem
There are rumors making their way around the web that p.diddy is planning to release a hip-hop cover of the Led Zeppelin classic, Stairway to Heaven which will be retooled in p.diddy fashion as Stairway To Harlem. While some websites have carried reported press releases from p.diddys record label, Bad Boy Entertainment, those reports appear to be bogus and the planned cover a rumor. antiMUSIC could not find any conformation that this is anything more than an internet rumor.
At press time Bad Boy Entertainment had
not yet responded to our inquiries concerning this rumor.
Ted Nugent disses Ozzy.
We are about to start a new news series here called Ozzy news due to the ever increasing amount of headlines the Godfather of Heavy Metal is generating these days. Here are two little tid bits for you.
Ted Nugent was quoted in the New York Post as having said the following when asked his opinion of the hit show, The Osbournes: "I think it's an indictment to the soullessness of modern man that we get a kick out of witnessing a magnificent creature reduced to a blithering hopeless idiot, Nugent was quoted in an article in the New York Posts Food section.
His former band may have been repeatedly shuned by the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame but Ozzy is getting plenty of attention from world leaders. On the heels of his attendance at the White House correspondents dinner where Ozzy traded jokes with President George W Bush, Osbourne has been added to the line-up of the Party At The Palace concert, which is part of the Queen's Golden Jubilee Festival Weekend.
Ozzy will join other performers including Eric Clapton, S Club 7, Sir Paul McCartney, Atomic Kitten, Ricky Martin, Beach Boy Brian Wilson, Tom Jones, Will Young and Aretha Franklin, who will perform before The Queen of England at Buckingham Palace on June 3rd.
It appears that Ozzy took the spot on the roster that was recently vacated by The Sex Pistols. The concert will be broadcast across the UK by the BBC.
Bruce Springsteen the Senator?
If Sonny Bono can be a congressman and Jesse Ventura can be a Governor than The Boss can be a Senator! So goes the thinking of some New Jersey political activists. Launch is reporting that some New Jersey political activists have launched a signature drive to place Springsteen on ballot in November.
The effort is being headed by Doug Friedline and his Independence For New Jersey organization. Friedline was a campaign aid on former pro wrestler Jesse Venturas successful campaign for Governor of Minnesota.
Friedlines organization is currently trying to obtain the 800 signatures needed to put Springsteen on ballot this November.
When asked about the campaign to make him a Senator, Springsteen quoted former President Lyndon Johnson, "If nominated, I will not run. If elected, I will not serve."
Thats all silly news this week.
