Now that the Warped Tour has been returned to the care of its original owners, sports shoe manufacturers and retailers Vans Inc, the annual summer festival is also returning to its original punk roots according to tour organizer Kevin Lyman.
For this the 8th year of the annual music festival tour, organizers have booked a cavalcade of punk, ska and emo groups to perform. "When putting the bill together, I started looking at it like comfort food," tour organizer Kevin Lyman told Pollstar. "It's like comfort Warped; it's all the bands that you've really grown to love on the Warped Tour. They're all part of it this year and you know they're going to put on a great live show. At the same time, we've added some great new groups."
This years roster includes Bad Religion, NOFX, Lagwagon, Newfound Glory, No Use For A Name, Thursday, Alkaline Trio, Ozma, Something Corporate, The Damned, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, MXPX, Reel Big Fish, Good Charlotte, Flogging Molly, The Casualties, Morgan Heritage, Anti Flag, Hot Water Music and Quarashi
As usual the tour will include more than music. Extreme sports stunt demonstrations will be provided by professional skaters, BMXers, mountain bikers, and Motocross cyclists. Patrons will also be able to cool off at the Pirate Zone which is reported to include a large slip-n-slide and will offer concertgoers the opportunity to dunk musicians. Other sideshow features include an extreme drumming tent and a Reverse Day Care center where kids can drop their parents off while they go out and enjoy the festivities at Warped. Patrons will get all of this and more for about $25 bucks a ticket.
