Limp Bizkits Fred Durst answered charges today pertaining to an article supposedly written by someone who had tried out to replace Wes Borland during Limp Bizkits current Put Your Guitar Where Your Mouth Is audition tour.
According to the article, which has found its way onto message boards across the net, guitarist who audition are forced to first sign a waiver that states Anything you play can NOT be copyright, and can be used by Limp Bizkit in audio, video, or recorded form of any sort. Other big words which basically translated to the fact that if you play something, they are fully authorized to steal it and use it on a CD. The artist agrees to zero compensation and zero rights over the track, and will get their name in the liner notes if possible." The article goes on to blast Limp Bizkit for stealing from unsigned musicians and said that Bizkit failed in their promise to play a small concert or jam with those who made it through the first cut. The author discribed the audition process as an all day ordeal where guitarist are forced to wait around and then are given a meager 60 seconds to show their stuff.
This article soon sparked a backlash among netizens against Limp Bizkit. However, some felt it was a hoax since the author failed to name the actual city he tried out in. While earlier this week antiMUSIC attempted to get a response to this article from Limp Bizkits record label Interscope Records, our inquiry had not been answered at press time, the rumors have apparently made their way back to the Limp Bizkit camp and Fred Durst issued a strongly worded statement concerning the accusations made by this anonymous author.
An angry Durst first took aim at those spreading the rumors I want you to listen and listen close. That includes every piece-of-s**** talking s**** and every hater talking s****. This is specifically written for you in all honesty. Said Durst eloquently in the statement. Everything we, limp bizkit, do is motivated and driven by our love for our fans and love for what we do. He then addressed the rumors themselves, All these f***ing he said - she said bulls**** rumors about what's going on with the guitar search are horses****.
On the accusations that Limp Bizkits waiver basically gives the band a licence to steal from would be guitarists Durst adds, People who are auditioning are asked to sign a release so their images and likenesses can be used in any documentary that limp bizkit would like to make (mtv, websitebizkit would like to make (mtv, website, etc) in no way whatsoever would limp bizkit ever steal or take anything (music, riffs) from anyone on this planet!! And remember the only person who watches a thief is a thief. We did not record any of the preauditions. Not one.
Never at a loss for a profanity, an angry
Durst closed his remarks true to form, F*** you haters. Better yourself
(a little advice). To everyone else, I can't wait to get back online and
into the chat. concluded Durst in his statement. Things are looking very
positive for limp bizkit - you'll be proud and surprised at what's coming
your way. Oh yeah... one more thing...f*** you again haters. He of course
signed it, "Love, Limp Bizkit"
